Indeed, A Quiet Weekend exhibits not only two of the hallmarks of fine adventure titlesstory accompanied by relevant puzzlesbut also adds the unusual component of a real place that can even simply be toured, if you wish!
-
The game itself is a delight. It is comparable to "Myst" in that it uses a sideshow technique to further movement.
-
Go where you want, explore and reflect. If quiet roaming, looking and pondering is your thing, you will not be disappointed.
-
This game clearly lacks big budget production values, but the fact is, it simply doesn't need them.
-
Putting a grand adventure story into these still photographs is a difficult thing to pull off and they do as well as one can possibly do...I don't really think this is a game for hardcore gamers though - most will be very disappointed.
-
The gameplay is not involving, and most players will not finish this game, as there simply isn't any incentive or payoff to do so.
-
PC GamerI really wanted to like this game, but its repetitiveness and frustration make it an island to skip. [July 2004, p.69]
-
An incredible success in virtual tourism truly brings the island of Capri to life, allowing the user to wander a real-life location at will. Far less successful as a coherent, playable game.
-
Cheat Code CentralWhile in some respects the game is interesting, it's just not cohesive enough to provide a solid gaming challenge. The puzzles are arbitrary and consist of a lot of virtual walking with little in the way of directions.
-
While there is a lot to enjoy about the game, the lower production values, simple gameplay, and campy story will put off people looking for a gripping adventure.
-
Rang[es] from boring to silly to confusing, with only the odd moment of interest to keep you trudging along.
