1000xResist is one of those special games from a team of individuals laser focused on creating their masterpiece. It’s story is meaningful, gripping, and heartfelt. This is a work of art you absolutely need to play.

1000xRESIST is a brilliantly conceived and written piece of dystopian fiction that delves into difficult topics with layers of nuance and introspection. What it lacks in gameplay is more than made up for by the storytelling, the visuals, the soundtrack, the characters, the music… just, everything. Play this game.

Despite minor flaws, 1000xResist has firmly established itself as one of the most groundbreaking stories in video game history.

I can easily recommend giving this game a try, especially if you enjoy narrative-driven titles like Life is Strange. Even though there are a few aspects that might hinder the experience, they’re minimal compared to everything the game does right. 1000xRESIST deserves to be experienced by as many people as possible, even more so thanks to its excellent Portuguese localization. It’s a beautiful, moving game that became a very special experience for me, so go ahead and give it a chance without hesitation.
  5. 1000xResist is different to anything else I’ve played and mostly because it’s a narrative-based game that tries as hard as possible to obscure the story from the player. But just like those fans who see the goodness in Iris despite what she shows us, interpreting what you are shown – and what you aren’t – is part of the gameplay. I can’t tell you what 1000xResist is. You’ll just have to see for yourself.

1000xResist is a revolution in storytelling, creating its own complex and rich fiction that’s beautifully written and spectacularly visualized. By expertly weaving genuine intimate moments with a sharp political identity, it makes its statements with a confidence that leaves an everlasting impact.

If I were to sum up 1000xRESIST in one word, it would be brave. I walked away extremely impressed with how its core subject matter, and I’ve been constantly thinking about the story since I rolled credits. It won’t change the mind of anyone who doesn’t care for narrative-focused gaming experiences, but I really do think this is going to be a special game for a lot of people. It speaks in a mature way that is extremely rare in a medium not known for its tact, and the team at Sunset Visitor should be proud of their work.

1000xRESISTgrabs players and does not let go, taking them through some impressive story moments and a few overly long conversations. The mix of post-apocalypse, clones, and memory exploration powers a narrative that’s unlike any other in the video game world. Speak with everyone and touch everything to get the most out of this universe. Unfortunately, gamers will have to deal with some annoying gameplay to experience the entire story. The platforming is the worst offender but none of this feels fun. The presentation also fails to consistently impress. 1000XRESIST is a showcase for what video games can deliver when it comes to emotion, held back by its gameplay.

1000xRESIST delivers a powerful and immersive sci-fi narrative that explores deep themes of trauma and cultural identity. While its complex dialogue and heavy themes can be challenging, the game's high-quality visuals, engaging characters, and unique setting make it a compelling experience worth diving into. This game provides a thought-provoking journey that encourages empathy and understanding, making it a standout in the visual novel genre.

If you enjoy a good story that can make you laugh one minute, hold back tears the next, then audibly mumble “WTF?” right after that, do yourself a favor, and check out1000xRESIST.

1000xRESIST tells a surprisingly deep and compelling story. What at times it lacks in terms of pacing and production value, it makes up with an abundance of creativity and unique storytelling.

If your 2025 resolution is to check out any cool 2024 games you missed, 1000xRESIST is worth a shot if you desire a compelling narrative and can endure clumsy gameplay. The game is also not very long (I finished this ten-chapter game in about twelve hours), so you’ll still have plenty of time to play 2025’s offerings. 1000xRESIST is a diamond in the rough that, despite its flaws, I’m glad I experienced.

A superior example of the visual novel, with some of the most compelling storytelling of the generation, even if it’s not very interactive.

1000xRESIST is a triumph as the debut game from an independent studio. Delivering an incredibly well-tied and provocative narrative, stunning scenery and equally stunning dialogues, sequences exploring different perspectives and using close to the maximum of what a game can offer as a medium, the sunset visitor studio leaves its mark on the games industry, daring to address, discuss and expose themes that we would hardly see in AAA productions.

It feels especially meaningful that I write this review during the process of travelling – an act of moving, reorienting, learning, and witnessing. It is meaningful to witness this game and its message – to resist, always, I mean, it's right there in the name – during a time of unprecedented student uprisings against Palestinian genocide. When I finally begin to write, I glance at my notes, which consist of a single sentence: What if the centre of the world, whatever that thing might be that we orbit and orient ourselves around, was a huge c**t? I relay this question to my friend, who takes less than a second to respond. "Isn't it already?"

I feel like I could write 5000 words about 1000xRESIST and still feel like I hadn’t really properly conveyed what kind of game this is, or why, exactly, I came away from it with such fond feelings. All I can say, really, is that I think it’s great. Shaggy, weird, a little annoying sometimes… but nevertheless, truly great. Glory to the ALLMOTHER.
