Tamagotchi Plaza reinvents the classic 90s virtual pet with a light and accessible approach to city management and varied minigames, where the player interacts with different shops and charismatic characters. Although it lacks a deep story and some minigames are inconsistent, the game stands out for its vibrant visuals, nostalgic charm, and focus on children and franchise fans, offering a fun and welcoming experience — even if somewhat limited for those who don’t understand English.

What’s in Tamagotchi Plaza is well-made enough and entertaining, particularly for the younger audience, but this is a very limited and shallow game that somehow manages to lack the meaning and intellectual value of Tamagotchi themselves. As an opportunity to play a few little minigames with your favourite critters, it has value, but as an experience where you get to hang out in the world of these mascots, Tamagotchi Plaza is lacking badly compared to the likes of Hello Kitty Island Adventure or Disney Dreamlight Valley.
  3. Just as I struggled to find anything to do in the game, I struggled to find much to write about in the review. The game is cute and promises to provide about two hours of fun, but after a while, you get bored.

It may be cute and colourful, but that's practically all that Tamagotchi Plaza has going for it. Essentially a collection of minigames, the activities on offer here are mostly dull and repetitive, and as there are no tutorials they are fairly inaccessible to younger players. One or two of the games are somewhat entertaining, but certainly not enough make this a title worth recommending.

As I came to the end of my time in Tamagotchi Plaza, it became an insipid place to roam - an existential nightmare where everyone is constantly happy, living in a cycle of benign pleasantries. The constant repetition only serving to chip away at my sanity, much like when I owned my first Tamagotchi as a kid, hearing it chirrup for attention until I shoved it in a drawer to die.

Tamagotchi Plaza is definitely not worth your time, and even those who really love Tamagotchis won't find anything to enjoy here... unfortunately.

I smiled when I first started playing this thing. I was directly controlling Unimarutchi, exploring the world with literally my favorite character, but my smile faded within seconds of realizing what Namco had dared to shovel in front of people and charge for. There’s nothing to explore, nothing to enjoy, just the grinding menial filth of a game that doesn’t give a f.ck.
