Hogwarts Legacy is the Wizarding World game that fans have dreamt of for years. It offers a dense and rich open-world to explore complemented perfectly by a surprisingly robust and engaging combat system unlike anything else. While the story does live in the shadow of its predecessors, and managing gear can be repetitive, Hogwarts Legacy is a truly magical experience and utterly bewitching from beginning to end.

Horwarts Legacy on the Switch 2 is a noticeable improvement over the version we got on the original Switch. The game looks much better, the gameplay is smooth and above all: no more annoying loading times - save for a slow door here or there. And as a very nice bonus you can upgrade from the original version for just 10 bucks.

Hogwarts Legacy finally has a version for a Nintendo console that has nothing to envy to the rest, neither in graphics, nor in performance, nor in fun. It's shame that there are no new content or that the physical version is a Game-Key Card, but except for that, it is a good port of a fun game that all Potterheads will enjoy.

The Switch 2 version of Hogwarts Legacy can be ranked a step above the Xbox Series S iteration of the game. The presentation is miles above the original Switch version, and by comparison, it doesn't feel as if anything was compromised to make the port work. The presence of mouse controls gives the game more range in the gameplay department, but the base game was already strong enough that the new control scheme is more of a bonus rather than something that changes one's stance on the title. If you owned the game on the original Switch, then it feels foolish not to do the $10 upgrade. For Harry Potter fans who either want a dedicated version of the game on the go or own nothing but Nintendo consoles, this title is a must-have.

The main advantage of the Switch 2 version, if you casually ignore anyone who has played on a PC this century, is mouse controls. You can jump between the dual analogue setup and mouse functionality by flipping one Joy-Con on its side, and it transitions seamlessly between them whenever you want. There’s a mouse sensitivity slider which you can attune to your speed and, after some adjustment in nailing down the spell configurations with the buttons twisted sideways, it quickly became our preferred way to play.

Hogwarts Legacy on Switch 2 is a pleasant surprise. Where one might have feared a cheap port, Avalanche Software delivers a careful, balanced, and faithful adaptation. Although technical limitations remain, the essentials are preserved: exploration, the universe, the magic, the immersion. Graphically less ambitious and locked to 30 fps, the game remains fluid, manageable, and above all, complete. Its main asset: native portability, without streaming, offering a magical experience anywhere, anytime. Fans of the saga will find it the ideal travel companion. Newcomers will appreciate a generous RPG, provided they are sensitive to the Harry Potter universe. For optimal visual quality, the next-gen versions are still preferred. But for a captivating adventure to take with you, this Switch 2 version is an excellent alternative.

Hogwarts Legacy brings all the magic, charm, atmosphere, iconic characters, and memorable locations to the Nintendo Switch 2. The differences compared to the previous conversion are so substantial that it feels like an entirely different product, and the option to upgrade at a reduced cost stands as a truly valuable opportunity that the many fans of the Wizarding World should seize without a second thought.
