Codemasters made a cracking game, and Feral Interactive has once again done what it does best with its porting efforts — taking the source material and tuning it to near perfection for Nintendo hardware. The only real negatives are the lack of proper analogue triggers (which isn’t the game’s fault) and the absence of multiplayer. But if you’re happy racing solo and soaking up the drama at team Seneca, it’s time to zip up the racing suit.

It's a shame that GRID Legends: Deluxe Edition has no multiplayer modes, but it's an absolute treat for those happy to race against the CPU. With two meaty modes for players to sink their teeth into, attractive visuals and plenty of options to tweak, this is easily one of the best racing games available on Switch 2.

GRID Legends: Deluxe Edition on Nintendo Switch 2 is a fantastic start for Feral Interactive on Nintendo’s new hybrid console. The team brought everything I loved about GRID Legends on iPhone, with added visual options to Switch 2, delivering a great experience both docked and handheld at half the price of other consoles. This is an easy recommendation and already one of the best Switch 2 ports I’ve played.

GRID Legends: Deluxe Edition is a robust, lovingly developed arcade racing game that looks and plays wonderfully on the Switch 2. The live-action story is goofy fun, but the thrill is in the racing, and you get an incredible number of ways to take part.

Feral Interactive has provided options to customize the gameplay experience — a rare sight on the Switch. The Deluxe Edition includes all add-ons, significantly impacting gameplay time. The driving model is very enjoyable and accessible, but the lack of multiplayer will be a letdown.

Grid Legends: Deluxe Edition arrives on Switch 2 as a well‑executed conversion of Codemasters’ racer, offering a broad set of visual presets, stable performance and a clear presentation that suits the hardware. Feral Interactive’s technical work results in smooth handling, faster loading and a flexible range of options that allow the game to run consistently in both docked and handheld play. The Deluxe Edition’s full suite of content, combined with cross‑platform online support and an accessible driving model, positions it as one of the strongest racing titles currently available on the system.

If you can get over the lack of analogue acceleration (although a GC controller will fix this), GRID Legends: Deluxe Edition offers a robust and rewarding simcade racing package, with one of the most entertaining story modes I’ve seen in a racing game in donkeys, and it stars Dr Who! Whether you choose to take to the track in handheld or docked mode, there are plenty of options to get GRID looking and playing exactly how you want. Toss in a truckload of DLC and core racing that looks and feels fantastic to play, and you’ve got yourself one of the best racing games on the Switch 2 to date.

GRID Legends: Deluxe Edition shows that it's possible to do an intense and fun racing game that joins an arcade experience with precise driving. The game comes with a healthy variety of choices and game modes and enough flexibility for players who want to create their own experiences, though the lack of competitive multiplayer of any kind is difficult to understand. Fans of racing games will be very satisfied nonetheless, as GRID Legends on the Switch 2 is a sharp and solid experience, with plenty to look forward to and a very competent technical performance.

On a platform that's fundamentally starved of more serious racers, GRID Legends is a great addition to the Switch 2's library. It absolutely deserves reassessment in 2026, and within this new context, with a drama-filled storyline and blockbuster presentation, it feels more of-the-moment than ever before.

Grid Legends: Deluxe Edition is a standout among a relatively small roster of Nintendo Switch 2 racing games.

If you can make peace with a lack of multiplayer outside of online leaderboards, alongside the fact that digital triggers aren't ideal if you're after precision throttle control (grab a GameCube NSO pad to swerve this issue), Grid Legends on Switch 2 serves up an excellent package of slick and satisfying 'simcade' action that looks and plays wonderfully well in both docked and handheld. With lots of options in terms of graphics and accessibility, and all previously-released DLC included, this is easily the best racing package of this type that's currently available on either of Nintendo's Switches and a real blast for solo racing fans.

It's a good game - in many ways better today than it was then, with lots of content and a racing curve that anyone can handle, whether they're just starting to learn to drive or drifting on a daily basis. However, the lack of a proper online mode where you can play with or against others is a missed opportunity. Instead, you have to battle it out on leaderboards that invite rivalry. The AI-controlled opponents tend to behave strangely aggressively at times, with proper PIT manoeuvres that send you spinning, which of course has no place here.
