Gear.Club Unlimited 3

While it lacks online multiplayer, you might want to pick up Gear.Club Unlimited 3 if you like the idea of developing your HQ in Japan, competing in races to unlock new features and put together an impressive garage of cars. You'll have to put up with a handling model that isn't all that impressive, however, and some will rue the lack of assist and difficulty options.

Despite its good ideas, which it does have, and technical improvements over previous installments, Gear.Club Unlimited 3 loses steam in practically every aspect. And that's a shame.

Gear.Club Unlimited 3 is a tough game to rate. At its core, the driving is sound, the graphics are decent, the game mechanics are interesting, and the career is meaty enough to bother. It even offers a 60 frames per second mode, something previous episodes did not – at least, on Nintendo consoles. On the other hand, it has various important flaws related to the overall racing, and the lack of online multiplayer is a huge step-down from the previous game which did, eventually, add said feature. What we’re left with is a mostly competent, not particularly memorable arcade racer with a handful of highs, but some baffling lows as well. It is a fun game, and on Switch 2 there aren’t too many better alternatives for this kind of racer. But if it follows the previous episode’s path, it may get new content, proper multiplayer and astonishingly deep discounts before long. Perhaps you’re better off waiting for all of that to happen, before jumping in.

Gear.Club Unlimited 3 is the kind of game I would recommend only with a big, big asterisk. If you just want a realistic looking racer, and to race around and do very little else, you will probably get some enjoyment out of it. If you want a racer that gives you a real reason to keep coming back beyond simply unlocking the next event, this will leave you wanting a lot more.

Gear.Club Unlimited 3 is a title with good intentions and a competent gameplay foundation. However, it accumulates too many technical issues, the driving feel and physics are poor, the AI does not behave well, and the absence of online multiplayer along with the very limited content weigh too heavily.

Gear.Club Unlimited 3 offers solid handling, a generous car roster, and welcome two‑player split‑screen support, yet the overall experience struggles to rise above average. Technical inconsistency across both visual modes, dated presentation, rubber‑banding AI, and a repetitive progression loop limit the game’s impact, while the absence of online multiplayer reduces its long‑term appeal. There are enjoyable moments, particularly in short sessions, but the Switch 2 debut of the series falls short of the standard set by Eden Games’ earlier work.

Gear.Club Unlimited 3 leans almost entirely on its Story Mode, yet even that fails to truly pull you in. Beyond that, frustrations stack up – clunky handling, technical hiccups and rubber banding – though the hub, duels and traffic-filled circuits offer brief flashes of promise. In the end, it falls short of must-have status, and you’re better off firing up GRID Legends instead.
