Citadelum is an excellent city-building and management game set in ancient Rome, featuring an intelligent building system, clear objectives, an intuitive menu, and campaigns that simulate Rome’s historical events. A few issues, such as rough autosaving and basic battle sections, do occur, but they do not spoil the overall experience.

Citadelum is an easy to learn historical city builder that feels right at home in the portable mode offered by Switch 2. While it may not break new ground for the genre, its streamlined design can provide many fun hours of building your own Roman Empire.

Citadelum is a great city builder, and it absolutely sings on Switch 2 thanks to the console’s mouse controls. After this, console city builders will never be the same again.

Citadelum delivers an engaging old-school strategy experience, expertly leveraging Switch 2's innovative mouse mode. Its addictive gameplay and strong historical atmosphere make it a true "time-sink." Although its functional mechanics might lack depth for genre veterans and some graphical hiccups persist, the intuitive controls and clear vision provide immense entertainment.

Citadelum was already a fantastic game on PC, but this version for Nintendo Switch 2 has gone straight to becoming our favorite way to play the city builder of Ancient Rome.
