There’s a heavy focus on an arcade-styled Titan-slaying experience with mind-blowingly exhilarating movement…and little else. This is a game that I can see myself playing and replaying with friends so long as they’re fine with Unbreakable’s quirks.

As far as an anime-based VR game goes, Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable accomplishes the colossal task of allowing players to enjoy some of the most extraordinary aspects of its dangerous world with moments of extremely satisfying victories. Still, with inconsistent combat and a lack of the deep storytelling that helped AoT become the iconic series known worldwide, Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable is a great experience for fans but fails to stand above other VR titles that push the medium forward.

The overall execution is clumsy and in need of patches.

If you are a hardcore Attack on Titan fan and simply want to immerse yourself in a passable facsimile of the world and kill some poorly rendered Titans, this is the game for you. If you are a passionate VR player who wants to experience everything the Quest store has to offer, you are another excellent candidate for this game. Short of those two things, though, I see very little reason to invest your time or money into Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable.

Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable is a disappointing adaptation of the popular series. While UNIVRS has done well with the combat and the controls, everything else ultimately falls flat. Between the performance issues, inconsistent visual quality, unreliable allies during solo missions and a short yet repetitive campaign, what's here feels rushed and unpolished.
