A showcase of what’s possible in VR, Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR delivers a completely unique foray into the world of Templars and Assassins, but in a first person perspective, and frankly, there’s nothing quite like it. While the Quest 3 isn’t up to the task, making for some wobbly frame rates, the game is thankfully a nausea-free experience you’ll want to experience.

If there was ever a AAA gaming franchise begging for a VR installment, it was Assassin’s Creed. What’s really special about Nexus VR is that it isn’t just a tech demo with an Assassin’s Creed flavoring—it’s a full fledged Assassin’s Creed game in VR. One that makes excellent use of the franchise’s unique sci-fi elements and properly translates the best gameplay elements.

Not just a full AAA game in VR... but an impressively implemented one at that.

Assassin's Creed Nexus brings Ubisoft's amazing level of polish and fun to the VR space, with spectacular results. While the combat is a bit clunky, everything else - from the effortless parkour to the highly entertaining stealth - works like a charm. I was amazed and delighted by the fact that this is a full game, and not just a small collection of levels crammed into a "VR experience". Wildly fun, this game goes a long way toward re-establishing my faith in VR as a viable video game medium. This is a landmark title.

Assassin's Creed Nexus VR isn't just a triumphant first entry into the VR space, it's a brilliant return to the series' roots in a substantial way. The amount of variety in the game is staggering, and you'll be regularly surprised by not only what you can do, but how much content Ubisoft was able to include in such a well-produced and made title.

I'm surprised that it has taken so long for an Assassin's Creed game to finally be released on a VR platform. After all, the original game takes place in a virtual world based on the memories of the descendant of Desmond Miles. And Assassin's Creed Nexus does an amazing job of placing gamers in the shoes of several notable characters and locations from within the Assassin’s Creed series. Although the story is not as detailed as that of previous Assassin's Creed titles, it still does a more than adequate job of keeping the player entertained over the course of the journey. But the developers have made full use of the VR controls to ensure that players feel immersed and like they are part of the action. Hopefully, Assassin's Creed Nexus be the first of many in a series of VR games from Ubisoft.

Nexus is a very good game for VR, showing the rich possibilities and activities that can be used in this sphere. With varied gameplay, nice graphics and a good and sufficiently developed story for several hours - even more than ten upon closer examination.

Assassin's Creed Nexus VR is a great way to experience the series' most iconic gameplay pillars from a whole new perspective. It's not without some of the awkwardness inherent to VR, but it's a visual showpiece for the Meta Quest 3 that deftly places players into the shoes of three iconic assassins while feeling incredibly authentic.

Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR is probably the best action game available for the Meta Quest 3 system and I’d go so far as to call it a hardware-seller. It’s certainly an impressive proof-of-concept for the standalone headset. As an Assassin’s Creed game, it nails the series’ classic stealth and parkour moves, all the more impressive in virtual reality. It isn’t an open world game, but all the better for it. I’d say it’s a must-buy for new Quest 3 owners.

Assassin’s Creed Nexus is a success in bringing the movement and combat stylings of the ever-popular series into the VR space. While it is playable on a Quest 2 it’s downright gorgeous inside the 3. It’s the first time in a while I’ve played a VR title that felt close to a Triple-A release. There may be a hell of a lot of AC games, but after this solid entry, I hope there’s more to come in VR.

Despite our initial doubts and a somewhat clumsy start, AC Nexus manages to gradually win over the player with a very careful setting and an adventurous aspect that works very well in virtual reality.

Assassin's Creed and VR go surprisingly well together, even if the game's main story is rarely captivating.

Assassin's Creed's successful first foray into virtual reality, which does a lot right in terms of gameplay, but stumbles technically.

Nexus demonstrates what a full-fledged VR entry can do for a big series, delivering a sizable campaign with accessibility at its core. Gameplay feels well adapted from the main series, parkour across such diverse environments is really enjoyable and that's backed by a strong presentation. Minor jank and stealth issues aside, it's the most fun I've had with Assassin's Creed and comes highly recommended.

Though imperfect, Assassin's Creed Nexus VR is a solid game for fans of VR and fans of the series. The smaller scope in terms of level size is offset by the fact that each environment remains dense with people and activities. The stories are fine, but the ability to play as three well-known assassins makes up for that. More importantly, it hits all of the hallmark moments of the series and does immersion well if you can forgive the weightless combat. It'll be interesting to see if Ubisoft tries to port this to other VR platforms, but as it stands now, the game is worth checking out if you are a current or prospective owner of any of the more recent Meta headsets.

I feel like Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR is one of the essential Meta Quest 3 apps now. It’s a real showcase of what the headset is capable of, and the array of accessibility options makes me feel like this is the action game that could maybe be the one anyone, even those who previously had issues with motion sickness, could easily play. The premise also makes it incredibly accessible, since you can go in with any level of familiarity with the series. It feels like a solid staple for the standalone VR headset.

Assassin’s Creed Nexus is an outstanding VR game that shows AAA developers how to bring their properties into a new platform the right way. Some minor buggy moments aside, Nexus is deserving of praise for the way it has stayed faithful and only added to the long-lasting legacy of the Assassin’s Creed franchise.

Assassin's Creed Nexus VR makes players' wildest dreams real. It is a very traditional VR adventure but what gives it depth is just being an Assassin's Creed. The Meta Quest 2 version is pushed to the limit, perhaps too far.

Assassin's Creed Nexus VR feels like the best showcase for what the new Meta Quest 3 headset can do. It's packed full of comfort features to let you tailor the experience so that however you play, you'll feel like one of the Brotherhood. Whether you're a fan of the series or not, this is a great example of what consumer VR tech can do.

If ever there was a compelling reason to invest in the new generation of VR hardware, Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR is it.

Successful VR version of Assassin's Creed, which works well except for the open battles and offers immersive sneaking and parkour fun.

Assassin's Creed Nexus VR is a successful experiment. Three already well-known protagonists and as many different eras to experience in virtual reality, from Renaissance Italy to ancient Greece, passing through a Boston in revolt. The unpublished narrative fragments and the strong sense of immersion allow us to turn a blind eye to some playful uncertainties, and give us the opportunity to experience a chapter of Assassin's Creed like never before.

Assassin’s Creed Nexus introduces a groundbreaking Virtual Reality (VR) experience to the iconic gaming franchise. The game maintains the essence of the series by integrating familiar characters and the Animus simulation. The innovative VR mechanics offer an immersive blend of climbing, running, and combat, providing players with a unique and entertaining adventure. While calibration issues and occasional glitches may pose challenges, the game’s successful combination of realistic movements and engaging gameplay ultimately makes it a compelling addition to the Assassin’s Creed legacy.

Assassin’s Creed Nexus manages to successfully pull off a fully-fledged VR game set around its fast-moving traversal mechanics with minimal motion sickness. They have, in a way, set a new standard for comfort options.

Assassin's Creed Nexus VR juggles a lot as a standard-bearer for AAA VR games, and the balancing act means that it's unlikely to be exactly what any given person wants it to be. As a loyal and reasonably robust translation of a popular series, however, it smoothly avoids any critical fumble. It's easy to recommend the game for Assassin's Creed fans, and it lays a solid foundation that makes a sequel seem like a tantalizing prospect. Reworked combat could go a long way in making Assassin's Creed Nexus VR better, but the joys of stealth and daredevil exploration are enough to grant the weak points some forgiveness.

Essentially Assassin’s Creed’s greatest hits, you inhabit the worlds of Ezio, Kassandra and Connor in VR, experiencing their historical sites and clunky real time combat in true first person.

Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR isn’t just another fragmented tech demo, but a fully realized Assassin’s Creed game that benefits greatly from its new medium and breathes life into the familiar Ubisoft formula. Running across rooftops in Renaissance-era Italy and sneaking through the streets of ancient Athens is a blast, and the fact that none of that made me want to hurl is a testament to just how much Nexus takes advantage of the Meta Quest 3’s shiny new hardware. It’s unfortunate that combat seems like an afterthought compared to the rest of Nexus’s polished systems, and occasional technical issues and immersion-breaking bugs definitely pulled me out of the experience from time to time. Even so, Nexus has reignited my interest in virtual reality, as only dancing through the streets of Venice as Ezio could do – and it feels good to be back.

Overall, it’s a great addition to the series and one of the best VR experiences I’ve had in a long time. While it was occasionally held back by some clunky movements or noticeable glitches, it wasn’t frequent enough to dilute the enjoyment or take away from the experience. If you own a Meta Quest and love Assassin’s Creed, this is definitely worth a try, and hopefully the start of a spin-off series.

Nexus brings key elements of Assassin's Creed to a structured virtual reality adventure featuring Ezio, Kassandra, and Connor, offering visually surprising experiences on the Quest platform, yet hindered by control imprecision, particularly in parkour and combat, with a storyline serving as a pretext for revisiting historical periods in the saga, and a wealth of mechanics but lacking depth.

But if it feels rather like a rough draft (moreso, even, than the original Assassin's Creed), then we'll be fascinated to see if this VR incarnation gets any fraction of the iterative treatment long enjoyed by its predecessors. [Issue#393, p.112]
