This one was a pleasant surprise! It's a RPG-lite roguelike deck builder with its own twist. The core mechanic is essentially blackjack: you try to reach a certain number of points against mobs (the dealer), in this case, 12. You use a special dealer deck of cards numbered 1-6. Reaching 12 gives you a critical hit, while going over immediately results in taking damage. In addition thereThis one was a pleasant surprise! More people need to try this game out.
It's simple to get into but there is strategy to be had if you want to master the gameplay. You're essentially playing blackjack (trying to get to 12) with a rogue-like element thrown in where the hero you play as gets succeeded by a new one every time you die/quit, and the exact layout or sequence of monsters you meet won't necessarily be the same

You're essentially playing blackjack (trying to get to 12) with a rogue-like element thrown in where the hero you play as gets succeeded by a new one every time you die/quit, and the exact layout or sequence of monsters you meet won't necessarily be the same every time either (but of course bosses will always be set at certain points).

There's also an endless mode past the main boss which potentially allows for infinite replay. I'm not one to buy iOS games with money, but for this game I made an exception to both make the game add-free but also to support the developer(s).

Only thing against this game is one of the core things about it, RNG. Sometimes, the sequence of punishments thrown at you feels unfair and I have had characters die within the second zone with good equipment.

    Gameplay Enjoyability (0 - Worst, 10 - best)

Visuals: 8 (I personally like the art style. Clean, a little cute)
    Gameplay: 10
    Music/sound effects: 8
    Frequency of advertising: 4
    Deck-building: 9

You can play the game without paying a cent, but do be prepared for the occasional ad. The amount of ads that get thrown in isn't as bad as some other iOS games, but ad-free is most certainly the way to go if you enjoy the game to any extent (if we're talking concrete numbers, it's equivalent to buying a pack of gum or a drink at a gas station).

Void Tyrant is an incredibly creative and deep card-based roguelite.

Void Tyrant is a fantastic game. At $5 it’s hard to find a better value for entertainment or longevity as I have already invested numerous hours delving in and unlocking base upgrades. We don’t usually find something like this under $10, much less as a free to play with an option of being a single purchase game. I will have this game on my phone for a long time to come, and for good reason. If you like card games, or roguelikes, or space adventures, Void Tyrant has something for you.
