    In the end, The Lost Shapes provides a solid, competent puzzle game experience. It doesn't quite have the addictiveness of a Tetris, but still provides a good bit of fun that should satisfy any fan of puzzle games.

    There's enough variety between the two modes to keep players interested, while never deviating from the core purpose behind the game. An ideal casual delight.

    Despite a couple of game modes and an attempt at creating some backstory, The Lost Shapes fails to feel fresh and simply adds yet another ho-hum option to the puzzle genre.

    The Lost Shapes is a simple concept that is hampered by poor execution. Whilst the Survival Mode makes for both a relaxing and tactical experience, Shape Mode is let down by poorly implemented scoring and design choices. Sadly, Magic Chess isn't the bewitching experience it could have been.

    The Lost Shapes should probably have spent some more time in play testing to fully flush out the concept and tune the play balance. As it is, the game starts out far too easy and then rapidly transitions to much too hard.
