It's just awful. You can choose to fight for the dwarves, orcs, humans, or elves but no matter which side you choose you won't be having anyIt's just awful. You can choose to fight for the dwarves, orcs, humans, or elves but no matter which side you choose you won't be having any fun. Combat just consists of killing the same one enemy over an over again. They seriously could not have been bothered to make more than one character model for the enemies. To be honest they couldn't even be bothered to make the game look good.

All you do is pick a side and fight until you kill everyone on the map. About half way through you get to play as one of the characters from the movie. Until that point unless you pick the dwarves you are left playing as some faceless grunt in the army you choose until you get the hero. It doesn't even use the movies material well.

The combat itself is just terrible. Most of it consists of mindlessly and awkwardly slashing at your enemies with poor hit detection. That is unless of course you play as a character with raged attacks which is just beyond awful. It takes forever to get through the game that way. You feel weaker and the hit detection is somehow worse.

The only reason it serves to exist is as a way to compete for high-scores. That's right, you can replay this crappy experience over and over again in order to get more points and complete it faster in order to get high up on the leaderboards. No thank you.

This isn't something I would have expected from a Warner Bros. mobile tie-in game. It's below their usual level of quality. It's a game that shouldn't be played by even the biggest Hobbit fan. It's free-to-play, but it's not fun to play. Not in the slightest. Skip this one.

I give "The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies - Fight for Middle-Earth" a 2.3/10.
