Stela is a beautiful, cinematic game that does a great job keeping you curious and scared since the beginning. While it could do a better job when it comes to guiding the player through the game or making the gameplay mechanics a little more intuitive, Stela is one of the more enjoyable gaming experiences I’ve had in a long time.

Stela is a competent but somewhat insipid clone of Limbo and Inside: it has its moments, but is also dragged down by slippery controls and questionable design choices.

Stela clearly wants to be as unnerving and fascinating as its contemporaries but the end product is merely an empty imitation. There is no element of surprise or wonder here, nothing to make players consider the game at a deeper level. Instead, it acts as a good reminder of the far superior titles that came before it.

Controls on a touchscreen are hit and miss though, which can leave you wondering whether you’ve solved a puzzle but messed up the controls, or simply haven’t figured something out correctly. It’s also a great deal less satisfying than the games it borrows from, even if it does look and sound consistently spooky.

    Потрясающе красивая — и визуально, и музыкально. Напоминает «Принца Персии», но с поправкой на сегодняшний день.Потрясающе красивая — и визуально, и музыкально. Напоминает «Принца Персии», но с поправкой на сегодняшний день.

I have truly enjoyed this game, particularly the last part. It is similar to games such as Limbo, Inside or Little Nightmares, but the storyI have truly enjoyed this game, particularly the last part. It is similar to games such as Limbo, Inside or Little Nightmares, but the story ends up being better in my opinion. Gameplay is based on horizontal scrolling and running away from creatures, though the perspective changes slightly at times. As the story unfolds, the atmosphere becomes more and more alien and ethereal, which is a strength. Something curious is that the explanations in the achievements complement the scenes of the game: they are narrative paratexts. It is not particularly confusing; you may get stuck for some minutes, but you will most likely soon discover how to solve the situations on your own. If you have 2-3 hours, I definitely recommend playing Stela. Expand
