If you're a fellow Star Wars fan, search your feelings you know it to be true, is there ever really a bad time to indulge in games paying homage to that galaxy far, far away?

Star Wars Rebels: Recon Mission does a lot of things right: it features a fair and flexible IAP system, it respects the Star Wars source material, and it offers an easy-to-play control scheme for a platformer on a touchscreen device.

Recon Missions is probably one of the best Star Wars games recently seen on smartphones and tablets. Still, there are some flaws and playing as a Jedi is not really fun.

A reasonably well put together Star Wars game, but it lacks the imagination to really recommend.

You get to play the first 4 missions without putting any money down, but in order to continue playing you need to shell out a few bucks. This cockamamie way of doing things is the only real flaw the game has and I foresee it hurting people's opinion of it. They should have just charged for the game outright. It's a pretty sneaky and offensive trick.

Yet despite that flaw (which did hurt the score I gave it) I can't deny that it's still a very good game. One that's worth paying for in order to get the fully unlocked experience. The 2D platformer gameplay is great. The touchscreen controls work excellently for both combat and platforming. The best use of them I have ever seen in a mobile game. It boasts a level of quality and production that few other mobile games have achieved. The light village building aspects are also appreciated. The lack of timers make it even more fun.

Provided you can forgive Disney for tricking us into thinking this was actually free-to-play and don't mind spending a few dollars (about $5) to unlock the full game then this is one you'll want to download. Not only is it the best Star Wars game to come out in a long time, but it's also probably the best 2D platformer available for mobile devices. If you are a Star Wars fan then this is worth the money.
