The game's multiplayer is seamlessly integrated, and all that's missing is the ability to curse at the other player and attempt to slap their controller out of their hands.

It holds up incredibly well as a multiplayer experience, and the inclusion of enhanced graphics, additional levels and online play makes the game feel like so much more than just a simple port of a classic. And as a bonus, nostalgia goggles are far from required here; a love of explosions and humor, on the other hand, most certainly are.

The gameplay is just as complex and rich as it always was, but much less intimidating.

All in all, I think the game has not aged particularly well. As such, it's a reasonably well-executed conversion let down by some frustrating controls and difficult-as-ever gameplay.

A decent enough wander down memory lane, Spy vs Spy hasn't aged that well, but it's still fun in small doses.

Nostalgia fiends are going to get an awful lot more out of Spy vs Spy than those who have never played the game previously: this is every bit the game that was played and loved all those years ago, and the option to play with retro graphics is a very nice addition. For everyone else, there's certainly an enjoyable game to be had here, but the controls will likely take some of the shine off the experience.

Somebody must still love Spy Vs Spy given the amount of effort that's been put into this remake, but the retro charm wears off extremely quickly.

Spy vs Spy is a tidy package of nostalgia that will help you to relive the classic moments of your gaming past - and you'll need these memories to soften the blow of the otherwise limited gameplay.

Fans of the original may enjoy seeing the 8 bit retro mode, but may be largely disappointed with the lack of care taken with this iteration of their beloved game.
