    Sonic Runners shines in some ways but fails in others, such as loading times and the monetization model.

    Unfortunately, the team in charge of that team decided that said fun should be gated by needless locks with cash keys, which is a problem. Give it a go and see if you can stomach the microtransactions. As for myself, I'm taking frequent breaks, mostly because I'm forced to.

    We've enjoyed the game as such, and it even kinda tastes like Sonic, but its monetization system becomes way too frustrating and annoying.

    I don’t like it, okay? Stop it, Sonic Runners, stop doing everything you’re doing. Well, except that part where you allow yourself to be a game, buried under mountains of distasteful gibberish...Also, the loading times are crap.

    For now, it's hard to recommend Sonic Runners to any but the most patient of fans. You're going to have to use a metaphoric machete to chop away at all of the dense jungle getting between you and the fun running action, but if you can look past all of that, you'll find something worth sinking your teeth into.

    Sonic Runners is an extremely addictive and fun mobile endless runner, which is completely free-to-download and play, which shoves everythingSonic Runners is an extremely addictive and fun mobile endless runner, which is completely free-to-download and play, which shoves everything we love about the blue hedgehog and more into a nifty little mobile game. Returning Sonic to his 2D, side-scrolling roots, simple controls, detailed level design and fun mini-battles with Eggman make each play of Sonic Runners as pulsating and thrilling as the last. Utilising power-ups such as Wisps (from Sonic Colours) and Springs, you can blast through difficult portions of the level, and you can also use Buddies to help trigger in-game bonuses. Combine that with the expansive roster of playable characters which adds up to a total of 21, the most of any Sonic game to-date, you can use differently-suited characters for each unique level - for example, Fly characters like Tails and Charmy are especially useful in Sky levels whereas Power characters such as Knuckles and Big are useful in Lava levels, each due to their unique abilities. Setting new high-scores rewards you with a higher ranking in your online division, and you can even take on Daily Battles and Campaign for an added challenge. The only criticism I have with Sonic Runners is the long loading times and the fact that notifications annoyingly pop-up with the same notices each time you load the game, but with a new update the crashes, lag and frame-rate issues are long gone, and Sonic Runners is an extremely enjoyable experience that you should definitely try out today for free from the App Store.… Full Review »
