There's a sense of automation that some otherwise satisfying pilot customisation options can't shoot down. [Aug 2013, p.78]

Ace Patrol shines in its mechanics and may very well become a good game after a steady progression of updates. As it stands now, this one could use some more time in flight school.

Simple yet enjoyable conversion made for tablets, which might be the reason why it tends to stall on PCs. If you manage to get it running, feel free to adjust the score accordingly.

Ace Patrol tries to apply the Civilization V template to WW1 air combat. Unfortunately, it a little too disjointed to fully engage.

The concept is interesting but too soon everything will be sacrificed to in-app-purchases that are forced by design dead ends that can just be solved by spending money. This is pay-to-win at its worst…

No building mines, baracks, and cranking out endless steamroller waves of troops. It's just you, your wingman, and the enemy. Each turn matters, because on wrong move means the enemy gets the drop on you and shreads your plane. Its all about realistic physics, flight mechanics, positioning for optimum firing paths, and working with your wingman to set up crossfires, or decoys. Taking realistic flight physics and turning them into a grid based strategy game? Only Sid M. could have pulled that off. I love this game.

The only reason it didn't get a higher score was because it was a little light on the extras. Not much in the way of story telling, the leveling system is mediocre, etc. But none of that stops it from being a great game that is totally worth the price.
