Its addictive, original design pays tribute to the past but is only possible with modern touch-based interfaces. Players match colors by tapping blocks as they fall, planning chain reactions and massive groups of color for maximum points. An advanced stat tracking and achievement system steadily ramps up the difficulty and rewards intelligent play. Compete against friends online and view worldwide leaderboards via OpenFeint.     The only issue I found in this game is that game state is not saved if you quit the app. Otherwise Shibuya is a perfect little puzzler.

    A neat new concept that tickles the brain in to thinking in new ways for bigger and better matches, but once you've come to grips with it the game can start to feel a bit sparse.

    Rather than being only a nice puzzle game, Shibuya delivers a beautiful experience. Its touch-based gameplay is immediate and engaging, while the soundtrack is very atmospheric. The two game modes unfortunately seem to be too similar and the highest difficulty levels are pretty impossible to play with since they're too fast, but the overall result is definitely good.

It's fantastic gameplay hasn't gone unnoticed, as it's currently a PAX 10 finalist this year (2010) in a crowded field. Furthermore, it makes a strong impression on the player, almost like an icon, as its laser-beam focus tends to burn itself into your memory. While its possible that some players may just not get what's so special about the game, and while it's the kind of game that you either love or don't, i can't but help see Shibuya as something very special. It out-muscles Osmos in its ability to induce trans-like states of play, and competes with Zen Bound in addictiveness. The presentation is great, the gameplay addictive, the music superb - it's a game with a singular vision that has fully realized its potential. If you're looking for a great puzzle game, look no further.… Expand
