    Rivals at War is an interesting semi-departure for Hothead as it makes good use of their pre-established card collecting system and drops it into the middle of a firefight. What’s better is that it all comes together incredibly well. It can be a little frustrating to have to scrimp and save for the high-end card packs but using a team of Bronze or even Standard soldiers and tactics isn’t a guaranteed loss. And it’s just fun, besides.

    We certainly had fun playing Rivals At War, and you really should see the battleground action for yourself to understand how short-changed mobile deck-building gamers have been over the last year or so. Whether it has enough meat to sustain itself in the long-term, is something that only time will tell.

Building on the success of the Big Win Sports franchise, Rivals At War is all about creating, managing, and upgrading your team of soldiers as you battle against online teams to be the best. Battles match you up against an online opponent, and you are able to watch the entire battle in 3D. The gameplay is all about finding the best combinations of soldiers and tactic cards and creating a strategy that woks best for you.

    As a free-to-play card game, there are many IAPs available to build a dominate team quickly. However, you do not need to spend money to get everything out of this game. Although it takes time, it is possible to earn premium currency by playing battles and competing in Campaigns. You are never forced to spend money in order to progress in the game, like you are in most other free-to-play games.

    Rivals At War is perfect for killing 5 minutes of free time, or sitting down and grinding out a 20 game Campaign. The gameplay is fun and addictive, and the battle simulations are in beautiful full 3D. This is one of the best games of 2013, and you will be hard pressed to find a better military experience on your mobile device. Especially since this game is FREE.

    Very excited to see Rivals At War get the attention it deserves!
