Aug 15, 2013Plants vs. Zombies 2 is everything you could have wanted, or expected, from the sequel to one of the greatest casual games of all time. It’s safe to say this one was well worth the wait, and then so much more.
-
Jul 26, 2013A great sequel that certainly doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but provides plenty of great and humorous zombie-smashing action.
-
Games Master UKSep 18, 2013A fantastic sequel, unhindered by its free to play model. Plant this on your device now! [Nov 2013, p.78]
-
Sep 10, 2013Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time just works well in every way. The game makes good use of the Free to Play-model, with which you'll only pay for something to make it a bit easier for yourself. The game is just as enjoyable without spending a dime though.
-
Aug 15, 2013Plants vs. Zombies 2 gives serious strategy players and casual mobile gamers a lot to love.
-
Aug 28, 2013PopCap affirms the Plants vs. Zombies position as one of the best mobile games for casual, even hardcore gamers. Zombies are coming!
-
Aug 20, 2013Plant vs. Zombies 2 is the perfect sequel for a perfect game. The new plants are awesome, the new mechanics are intriguing and the free-to-play policy never tries to put a hand in your pocket. A must have.
-
Aug 15, 2013What you're getting is basically more of that classic Plants vs. Zombie experience, with just enough tweaks to keep it interesting -- and that's more than enough for me.
-
Aug 15, 2013The comedic army of undead make placing your aggressive plants in every level a party. The tried and tested gameplay of defending your base continues to be interesting thanks to the right amount of variation at the right time. Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time was definitely worth the wait.
-
Aug 15, 2013PopCap maintains the addictive tower-defense gameplay and cheesy humor that made the first Plants vs. Zombies such a phenomenon, while adding a plethora of new features that ensure this game will consume every free second you have—if you let it.
-
Aug 15, 2013Who knew that zombies existed in every historic era? Don't miss out on this journey of epic proportions!
-
Aug 15, 2013Plants vs. Zombies 2 is a sequel that not only outshines the original, but also does the free-to-play game system justice - a rare feat for apps these days.
-
Aug 15, 2013All in all, PvZ2 is an incredible sequel. Unless you're exceptionally impatient or just not very good at these kind of games, it'll be totally free for you to play. If you've found yourself burnt by freemium games in the past, I highly recommend giving this one a spin as it might change your opinion on the pay model.
-
Aug 13, 2013It is a rare title that all generations or genders of players can enjoy. I heartily recommend it, as there are no rotten vegetables in this game.
-
Jul 24, 2013That rare title that gets better as you progress, crediting dedicated players who know that the best things are yet to come.
-
Jul 22, 2013Don't worry about the free to play model business or the lack of night levels: Plants Versus Zombies 2 is exactly the game you were looking for. New plants and Plant Food add a new level of strategy, as well as the peculiar gameplay of the different worlds. Every single fan of the original game should give a chance to this sequel.
-
Jul 19, 2013This is a remarkable sequel, one that takes its predecessor not as a template, but a jumping-off point. And for all the justifiable concern about its chosen business model, its implementation of the free-to-play model prizes players’ hearts above the contents of their wallets.
-
Aug 19, 2013Besides a little bit of grind and a smaller number of plants compared to the previous game, Plants vs Zombies 2 is a perfectly balanced tower defense and a great free-to-play game.
-
Aug 18, 2013Compared to the original one, there's more content and fun, even though being free to play is something not everyone will like. However, it lives up to the expectation, and does deserve a try.
-
Jul 18, 2013Plants vs. Zombies fans should stop worrying about the new F2P model. Every level in It's About Time can be solved with the plants and tools included for free in the game and it never feels unfinished or reduced. Gameplay changes are organic and improve the game experience. Even though things like the night levels will be missed, this sequel will not disappoint the fans.
-
Jul 17, 2013Like the beloved original, Plants vs Zombies 2's gameplay never stands still – it’s always evolving, layering in fresh plants and new twists. No matter how you play, the gameplay is founded on the tension between your game plan and the fact that you’ll almost never have enough sun or space to fully execute said game plan.
-
Aug 27, 2013Plants Vs Zombies 2 has it all: special levels, new gameplay elements and units to compete with endless waves of increasingly aggressive and powerful enemies.
-
Aug 19, 2013Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time keeps the fresh gameplay and the sense of humor from the first game and offers new funny situations to its tower defense formula; and all that just for free.
-
Aug 26, 2013Another great example of Tower Defense gameplay designed for iOS devices. Lacks innovation, that´s for sure, but nonetheless it´s a must-have game.
-
Hyper MagazineSep 4, 2013A big improvement on the first game, albeit one hampered by the free to play model. [Oct 2013, p.77]
-
Aug 27, 2013A fantastic sequel to a delightfully simple strategy game. Rest assured that you can easily play it without running your head into any paywalls. And that fact alone makes PvZ2 one of the best freemium games in recent times.
-
Aug 23, 2013The core Plants vs Zombies gameplay is still as strong as ever, so there is still tons of fun to be found in the sequel. But after the first game's carefully crafted difficulty curve, Plants vs Zombies 2's grinding can make it feel like a more inconsistent experience.
-
Aug 23, 2013With such an attractive pricetag (free!) and such interesting gameplay, this is a title not to be missed despite not being as good as the first game.
-
Apple'N'AppsAug 16, 2013Plants vs. Zombies 2 offers an entertainment experience unlike any other that can be a mainstay on your iOS device, and in your free time. It enhances every aspect of the outstanding original, and while it’s not perfect you will definitely enjoy the time you spend with it. This review is long and meticulous, just like the game.
-
Aug 16, 2013In keeping with its horticultural theme, Plants vs. Zombies 2 has deep roots and many branches, and it bears fruit in a game that feels at once familiar and refreshing.
-
Aug 15, 2013More isn't necessarily better, though Plants vs. Zombies 2 still shines as a slick and fun free offering.
-
Aug 15, 2013On the one hand, Plants vs. Zombies 2 is all kinds of fun. The action is as compelling as ever, and the new plants, zombies, rail mechanics, and various mini-games only make things better...On the other, its aggressive strategy to make players spend money within the game is a bummer.
-
Jul 25, 2013A great sequel to what is still probably the best Tower Defense game around, and a shining example of how to do free-to-play properly.
-
Aug 21, 2013When it works, Plants Vs. Zombies 2 is a delight, and the in-app purchases nearly work, and are at least an interesting attempt at trying to do them in a slightly different way. Unfortunately, through a combination of grinding and an obvious clawing for your money, the wonderful character and soul from the previous game has been tarnished ever so slightly.
-
Aug 16, 2013A worthy sequel to a much-loved original, but one that suffers from structural changes introduced to accommodate IAP.
-
Aug 21, 2013There's a creeping sense that [the game] cares less about the player, and more the clinking in their coffers. [Issue#138, p.111]
