Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 comes with new modes, new competitions and commentary, since the gameplay is basically the same of last year edition. The game still lacks online multiplayer and the graphics really need to be improved to reach FIFA's standards, but overall this is a nice choice, especially if you didn't buy PES 2011.

PES isn't perfect, but it's certainly not terrible. Come to think of it, neither is it mediocre. And if you're confused by that sentence, you're not the only one.

A decent proposal from Konami, which is however far from the console versions of the same game, and also from its competitors in the iOS space.

Konami has done its best to make this an authentic footy experience, and certainly in terms of graphics and gameplay it does a decent job. But the relative scarcity of licensed players and teams, and the presence of outdated strips, dilutes the overall experience.

PES 2012 serves up a decent game of football, but its lack of depth and control flaws mean that it's going to be a long, hard season.

So graphically, gameplay, and feature wise, Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 comes up short against FIFA 12. Is Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 a terrible game? No, not really. It's just nowhere near as good as the competition, and having both released in the same week makes it hard to make the argument that you should choose Pro Evo over EA's offering.

Not very playable on the iPhone's small surface, feels better on an iPad. The main problem with this game is AI and controls, but don't forget the price, too high.

PES 2012 is a fairly solid game of Football, there's nothing seriously broken about it, but considering it arrives alongside its nearest rival FIFA 12, comparisons are not kind to the game. A control system that doesn't allow for enough fine tuning and questionable AI mean that PES2012 should be sitting on the bench this year.
