A mature, aesthetically splendid debut that charms effortlessly by virtue of its poetry-driven narrative, quaint artistry, and subtle humour. Occasionally obscurity aside, Milkmaid of the Milkyway is a stellar little gem.

If you want to spend a little bit of time in an interesting world, play Milkmaid of the Milky Way. Developer Mattis Folkestad has put forth a tremendous solo effort here into a charming game that's worth your time.

If you enjoyed games like Sword & Sworcery, Machinarium, and Broken Age, and love something as quirky as constant rhyming, then you will appreciate what Milkmaid of the Milky Way brings to the table.

It’s very early days in the year, but Milkmaid of the Milky Way still smacks of an adventure game that should be remembered come the end of year roundups. While it doesn’t bother trying to re-invent the wheel, it does an admirable job of sprucing up said old wheel with a 21st Century style twist or two. It’s an easy game to love.

While some puzzles may frustrate, they don't detract from this adventure's charming presentation and atmosphere.

Milkmaid of the Milky Way isn't the most narratively or mechanically impactful adventure game I've played, but it does make a heck of an aesthetic statement that really stuck with me. Even despite a lot of its clunkiness, I think Milkmaid of the Milky Way is worth checking out.
