This is the definition of Great taste but Awful execution. It's a shame how ideas like special items returned, and the character roster is fantastic, but the agressive microtransactions, lootboxes and controls just ruin the expirience.

This is without a doubt the worst Mario kart game ever, I understand what Nintendo was trying to do by making a Mario kart game for ios and Android devices, but it just doesn't work. Nintendo doesn't seem to see any of the problems that I see from this game, reused tracks, an extremely lazy character roster, and an ungodly amount of paywalls. The premium currency are rubies, and at the beginning of the game you get 25 rubies and you need 5 to open a pipe, which is kind of like a chest I guess you could say, and after that you basically get none, to make it worse the rubies are very expensive! I guess a positive thing about the game is that they added online play but that always crashes and takes forever to find other players, overall I do not recommend this game . Expand

A pathetic attempt at a mobile version of Mario Kart, this game is the definition of cash grab and will try so hard to force money out of you it would make EA jealous. You genuinely are forced to pay upwards of £40 on characters, which turn lets you win automatically on one track. Repeat for every track and you've just spent thousands on a Mario Kart game for the full experience. I could go on and I may continue this review another time but this game is honestly disgusting with how desperate it is to force money out of it's target audience, which is primarily children. The gameplays is mind-numbing to add to that. The only good parts of this game are the visuals and music and even they are outclassed by the other games in the series. If you can enjoy this game I'm happy for you but I personally think this is gaming at it's worst. Expand

This game is a great game for mobile and I think it has some great features and characters but there aren't very many original tracks and the rubies are overpriced and 200cc is more expensive than Nintendo Switch Online. But I think it's pretty solid none the less.

The new courses vary from very bland and boring from beautiful and fun to explore racetracks, and the retro course selection is amazing (the biggest in any Mario Kart game), and some of them looks awesome (take the newly improved N64 Choco Mountain for example). The fact that it keeps updating every two weeks since day one makes for a great replayability, something that can't be found on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for example after you've played every track and unlocked everything. You should really check it out and give it another chance, it's not the awful game it was on version 1.0. Expand

A really entertaining and solid Mario Kart for a mobile device. I don't know what other people expected for a free Mario Kart game. Ok it has in-game purchases but you can do so much things even without paying a single cent. It's not the best Mario game out there of course, but as it's free and available on a non-Nintendo device, it's pretty good the experience you get.

I honestly enjoyed this game. It holds the typical mario kart experience, with a cheaper cost, with a lower experience. But taking in the price, it isn't a bad game. There are many microtransactions, which dont bother the experience for me, and no whole incentive to purchase Overall, I had enjoyed this game in it's whole, with partial inconveniences

The only thing this game does right is the character selection. Sucks that it’s ruined by a loot box. The tracks are all bland and the game practically plays itself.

It was really hard and rare to get rubies as well and there wasn't a battle mode.
Fast forward to December 2022, and it has been improved massively. The lute pipes are gone (you can buy characters, karts and gliders from the shop with rubies, which are now easy to get, thankfully), the controls are better, there are tons of characters, tons of really great tracks and there's battle mode. There's also an online mode, but it sucks because it is laggy as hell and the rubber banding is ridiculous. Though why is it even legal for there to be a Mario game where your not even guaranteed to play as Mario himself from the start?!!!!! Nintendo have revived this game. It is good now and I recommend everyone tries it out.

This is a pretty good game. The tracks are pretty good, and they have improved over time, The only reason this is a eight is because of the microtransactions, plus the controls are weird. But it's a mobile game, so it's kind of forgivable. In conclusion, great game for mobile, would recommend.

Well, I'm looking at them based on their gameplay, graphics and fun. So, first of all, let me start by saying Mario Kart Tour's controls are awful. They never feel fluid and require you put your finger on the screen so you can barely see anything and the kart usually goes a bit to the left and a bit to the right. The game also feels slow but although the controls suck, the tracks in this one are the highlight. Of course, some tracks are unfortunately locked behind the idiotic Gold Pass, which is where most of the fun is locked, but the tracks you play are either faithful recreation of the most brilliant tracks from other games, or one of the games new tracks, which are pretty solid versions of real world locations, yet some of them feel either stereotyped, a bit rushed or most commonly, 400,000,000,000 versions of the same track. Now that those things are out of the way, let us talk about the dark, gritty bits. Microtransactions. Most of these aren't apparent as soon as you play the game but after a while, you'll get bored of the game telling you to buy the Gold Pass if you want to play over half of it's content. Also, although I don't have that much of an issue with the loot boxes, they should make these MUCH more specific. Overall, if you want a good Mario Kart portable game, play either Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Mario Kart: Super Circuit or of course Mario Kart DS. Expand

this game was a rushed, half finished, cash grab of a game. This game didn't even have real multiplayer, and with a subscription service of over 6 dollars a month, it simply isn't worth it.

Mario Kart Tour is - quite simply, Mario Kart dumbed down for a smartphone.

Despite the simplicity and pay-to-win nature of the ranked cup, however, the constant changing of tracks still makes for a fun experience. With the release of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s Booster Course Pass, however, Tour is slowly becoming more and more irrelevant as time goes on, and the end draws near for it.
