Despite being a bit unforgiving at times, I'm enjoying Hyperforma a lot. The game's exquisite graphics are a sight to behold, and the music and sound is excellently done too. Gameplay is familiar yet completely new at the same time, and it's challenging. I enjoy the designs for each stage, and how new mechanics are introduced. The difficulty level is pretty gradual, but things can feel a bit unforgiving. However, I only see that as more reason to keep coming back and do better.

A mix of skill and arcade for intense play. Hyperforma is not easy, but offers simple game mechanics to understand, and an optimal maneuverability on touch screen. You'll evolve into a futuristic modern world and freezing realism in this innovative and refreshing game that fans of hardcore game will appreciate at its true value.

Hyperforma is by no means a bad game, and it's got its own unique style that makes it a joy to watch. But eventually things just start to feel a little bit flat.

Hyperforma presents a lot of neat ideas that all quickly get subverted by its powerup system. For a game that seems otherwise immaculately detailed and thought out, this powerup system is such a glaring flaw in the experience that Hyperforma is pretty hard to recommend.

The devs clearly took great care and time in making a well-polished presentation first and foremost - and not only do they succeed, they inspire awe with the entire cyberpunk/futuristic world. The atmosphere feels like what a 'Blade Runner' movie in cyberspace would be. The colors and design are just absolutely gorgeous (and this you will probably hear from every person who ever played the game).

The sound design as well increases the immersion and atmosphere, with the unbelievable electronica/synth laden soundtrack pumping beats in your ears for a full on experience. And we haven't even gotten into gameplay yet; because this is what the developers have set-up for the gamer, a richly-filled experience that none can rival in the genre; and imo, sets a new standard for the whole cyberpunk theme.

So on to the gameplay: you literally 'hook in' to the system via an ingenious idea by the devs of a simple swipe (again, adding to the immersion/atmosphere) and you get some brief backstory on to the timeline and what the world has become (I'm not going to discuss actual plot for spoiler sake, but as you progress through the game you learn more about your character and also the goal of why you are hacking within cyberspace). The game starts you out with a simple tutorial that explains the basic mechanics - which is to hack the center of the core which will be surrounded by different types of blocks to keep you out. So you need to destroy these blocks (aka hack) to get to the core which is how you complete each level, but also earn new abilities and pieces of the story. The gameplay is definitely challenging, but the devs have done a great job with various updates to improve this so it can be enjoyed by hardcore gamers and casual games alike (and you can switch the difficulty from hardcore to normal at any time during your gameplay with is a
REALLY nice feature if you are struggling on a level). Each level is carefully constructed into one setting where there are blocks and you can rotate it any way you want in order to set-up the perfect shot, as you character you will be attacking towards the core to remove these blocks. At first it seems simple, but as you progress the level design can get very clever (as I like to think of the levels as an action/puzzle hybrid - due to the fact that you sometimes need to hit certain blocks to create an opening to get to the core, or to turn off obstacles such as lasers or bombs). And this is where I completely disagree with some of the review sites on the actual gameplay. I believe there is so much depth to each level, that you must come up with a strategy in order to beat it. As there are 3 mission achievements per level (get to the core in less than x seconds, don't die more than x number of times and destroy x amount of blocks). This definitely creates replay-ability to go back and complete all these missions. Plus, the benefit of completing missions is your character will 'level up' which allows you to choose which abilities you want to strengthen. And when you have the clone ability maxed out while using the electron ability, the screen becomes a 'beautiful mess' so to speak, that gets the adrenaline pumping and the fun factor to 11.

It should also be noted, as I mentioned. that the devs have done some pretty big additions, adjustments and improvements to the game that a lot of the review sites haven't actually played which bothers me as a gamer, as they haven't really experienced the game as a whole. This is personally one of my favorite games of 2018 and is the reason I came on here to write a review (as I usually only write reviews on the app store page). But given that I believe this is extremely underrated at the moment, and deserves wayyy more attention from mobile review sites and gamers as well. I am always looking to help talented indie development companies that have created something special, and this time I found something really special that deserves to be noticed and played.
