Feb 3, 2012Hero Academy is a bit of chess, Words With Friends, and fantasy combat all mixed together.
-
Jan 13, 2012It's a ridiculous amount of fun.
-
Aug 20, 2012Even if you buy all the teams Hero Academy will barely cost you $15. For that price you get a strategy game you can play indefinitely, and whose tactical elements are deep enough to entrance everyone from the casual gamer to the strategy enthusiast.
-
Apr 10, 2012Well-balanced, fun turn-based strategy gameplay perfectly suited to mobile devices.
-
Jan 27, 2012If you have an iDevice and even a passing interest in turn-based or tabletop strategy gaming, there is absolutely no reason not to download Hero Academy. Robot Entertainment very well may have put a lock on iOS Game of the Year, and January isn't even over yet.
-
Jan 17, 2012Hero Academy is a simple game, and it does what it's built to do very, very well.
-
Mar 6, 2012The bottom line of this review is that you can't beat free, and the cost here overcomes any shortcomings. The cartoon graphics are very crisp and clear, and they look great on the smaller screens used by the iPhone and iPod touch. We'll certainly be keeping this iPhone app installed, and we look forward to seeing how the board looks on the larger iPad screen.
-
Jan 30, 2012Hero Academy is an online RTS that could be very funny, but game rythm is too slow, cause there's just the online mode. With a Single Player Campaign and a time limit during the turns it could become a very must buy for RTS lovers.
-
Jan 17, 2012Hero Academy is a curios experiment, giving us the chance to play a long on-line session but in our spare times. It's done by letting the users send their moves to each other and then waiting for a new one.
-
Mar 9, 2012Hero Academy wants a piece of the emerging asynchronous market, and offers a compelling turn based strategy game. After some matches you begin to discover patterns and strategies, and before you know it you're completely hooked.
-
Jan 31, 2012Hero Academy is a fun little game which will keep you entertained for a few hours as you plan strategies and eventually conquer enemies, but there is little available to keep players enticed beyond that. At present the game is somewhat light on features but the gameplay's emphasis on defensive strategy will keep fans of the turn-based game coming back for more.
-
Jan 25, 2012Hero Academy offers a new concept of multiplayer gaming on iOS devices: an asynchronous system using push notification, suitable for quick session you can resume whenever you want, even the following day. Robot Entertainment's IP is funny and immediate, suitable for all player – even the less skilled with RTS. But be careful: playing without a strategy against a human opponent could be an authentic suicide.
-
Jan 23, 2012In its present form, Hero Academy is a fairly lightweight confection, but it digs its nails in until you find yourself impatiently anticipating the notification alert, and then starting a fresh battle with a random opponent to shorten the wait.
-
Jan 17, 2012This is a nice game that may well turn into a great game: if the players continue to stick around, if the developer doesn't let the micro-transactions take over, and if the design team keeps its eye out for bugs and exploits that emerge as people start to get really serious.
-
Jan 16, 2012Hero Academy is light on strategy, but provides smooth pick-up-and-play fun.
-
Jan 11, 2012Hero Academy feels like the start of something special that's only half-finished right now. The gameplay is great, as are the graphics, but it still needs some additional content before it's something to recommend to all gamers (like a single-player campaign and a real training mode). Still, if you're patient and can get past these quirks, you're in for a great strategy experience.
-
Jan 13, 2012Part card game, part turn-based strategy, players pit themselves against opponents from around the world in asynchronous matches.
-
Jan 17, 2012Hero Academy is simple, simplistic, and ultimately unsatisfying. You might as well find a friend and take turns punching each other in the arm to see who gives up first.
