Verdict: if you enjoy tile based strategy games and card games, this is a jewel. Explanation: The game is a combination of a 4X and card based game play. The 4X grid in which the two teams go head to head to destroy each others crystals is what makes this game shine. If you are sick and tired of the same card games that just require minimal effort and quickly become mundane, this is yourVerdict: if you enjoy tile based strategy games and card games, this is a jewel. In comparison to games like hearthstone and the witcher's gwent games, this game immerses you into game play where the victory can truly be taken by a variety of means. The ability to learn the mechanics of the units to properly advance, retreat, shield, heal, attack, and crit the enemy makes this game a time sink.

    Pros:
Highly varied and thought through gameplay.
Stunning visuals and animations that even allow you to bounce around the swords of dead units around the field with your finger while you wait for your turn.
Immense amounts of PvE (player vs environment) and PVP (player vs player), leaving you the option to pursue either one with days of gameplay.
Challenging tactics due the mechanics make this game very rewarding succeed in.
Great tutorial that seamlessly fades into PvE

    Cons:
Microtransactions for card packs and in game currency (who doesnt have those today though?)
Advanced parts of the game such as crafting unique cards is nearly impossible without spending money due to the very low drop rate of crafting material.
Closing phone during a PvE game can restart your progress

    Neutral:
Online games usually take >20 minutes
Some challenges are designed for those who seek pain.

The moment to moment action of Hero Academy 2 can be pretty enjoyable, but that’s mostly because of the aspects that the game borrows from Hearthstone. Outside of those common elements though, Hero Academy 2 can feel like a bit of a slog, and one only worth sticking with if you want to sink a ton of time (or money) into it.

There's so much to like in Hero Academy 2 that it's hard to get it all down in one review. From the brilliant art style to the various layers of tactical ideas, everything here is polished to the sort of sheen we expect from the very best games on the App Store. If you're looking for a fight, and you want to make sure that you're using your brain as well as your brawn, then this is the perfect game for you.
