You can pay for the premium version to remove ads and open up the options to play as a guard or a civilian, but if you don’t mind the constant ads and being relegated to a prisoner, then Hard Time is worth a look.

Hard Time is awesome. Customizing your character is completely zany and fun. Dickie is one of the best indie publishers on the App Store. HardHard Time is awesome. Customizing your character is completely zany and fun. Dickie is one of the best indie publishers on the App Store. Hard Time is a prison simulator in which you play as your character and he gets jailed for 90 days, and it's your job to make sure you stay alive during those days! You need exercise, food, sleep etc. But the buttons and combat is pretty bad, but I got over it. If you love games, you need to give Hard Time a try. It's free, it's funny, it's fun. Expand

It doesn't do the best job of telling you how things work right out of the gate, so your first few hours might be filled with frustration. But as you begin to get a hold of how things work and how to deal with the prison politics, you're in for one heck of a time. Taking care of your characters needs (food, sleep, ect.), watching out for threats, and making a name for yourself are all apart of what make this game so enjoyable.

You choose what type of character you are. Are you the type of prisoner who tries to stay out of things in order to stay alive until your sentence is over? Or are you the type who joins a gang and has a reputation for not taking crap? There are risks either way. Play it safe and the other prisoners might think your weak and leave you dead on your cell floor. Play it tough and the wardens will be gunning for you.

No matter how you choose to play you'll find a fun and funny experience here. The controls take some getting used to, and the appearance customization settings are tough to use, but overall it's just a great and addictive simulation game. Best part is that it's free! Paying for the full version will remove the adds and let you become a warden at some point, but free is still a great way to go. My overall score for the game is an 8.5/10.
