Nov 29, 2023It’s hard to find much to object to in Gubbins, really. It doesn’t do anything dramatically different from other word games on a fundamental level, so if you don’t like that kind of thing I guess you won’t enjoy this? Otherwise, this is smooth sailing all the way. It has tons of charm thanks to its lively presentation, the extra twists give the gameplay a flavor of its own, and you can try it out for free, buy extra bits like more Gubbins a la carte, or pay one reasonable fee to get everything. I’ll happily take this game and all the gubbins and Gubbins that come with it.

Dec 1, 2023Gubbins is a cute word game with a lot of sass to give and a lot of new words to learn. The monetization model is very pleasant and the one game per day is a perfect brain exercise.

Dec 13, 2023Unfortunately, the game doesn’t live up to its look and feel, with letters proving tricky to place accurately, power-ups supplying confusing benefits – and often what feel like hindrances – while the gradual reveal of letter tiles makes it hard to plan ahead or play tactically.
