games(TM)Feb 22, 2018A simple and highly affecting puzzler. [Issue#197, p.72]
-
LEVEL (Czech Republic)Feb 16, 2018Melancholic expedition to magical realism that emphasizes the artistic power of an independent scene. We definitely recommend the game on a mobile platform, it fits better there. [Issue#282]

Jan 30, 2018Gorogoa crafts its inventive, sliding-tile puzzles and magical world with a graceful simplicity across a compact but fulfilling adventure. The excitement of solving each puzzle may be lost on a repeat playthrough, but its hand-drawn art and clever payoffs are no less satisfying to watch unfold again and again. Gorogoa manages to say so much without uttering a single word, endowing it with a mystery that invites a more attentive, thoughtful revisit — and one that I was more than happy to accept.

Jan 29, 2018Most of the time when games overlap with art, the result is whimsical rather than fun. The delicious multi-layered puzzle you’re presented with in Gorogoa is quite an exception. It tells the wordless story of a boy’s quest to find a fantastic beast, via the usual collector’s set of glowing orbs. This time though, you interact with the game by rearranging four on-screen frames, panning, zooming, and playing with perspective until you wheedle out the solution to each of its mysterious and beautifully drawn scenarios, in a process that’s entirely unique.

Jan 2, 2018Gorogoa is a stunning work of art and an unique videogame that shouldn't be missed.

Dec 19, 2017Gorogoa's thousands of illustrations coalesce into a cleverly designed puzzler that's as compelling to play as it is to watch.
-
Dec 18, 2017This may be the fuzziest narrative I’ve ever had to tackle, open to a great many different interpretations, but that’s just part of the game’s elegance and brilliance. Even without understanding it, I can still safely say Gorogoa is one of the best puzzle games to ever grace my iPad.
-
Dec 15, 2017This is one of those rare times when a game simply wouldn’t work on any platform other than mobile. Gorogoa is a tactile experience, one that demands to be poked and explored. And you’re going to have a brilliant time doing just that.

Dec 15, 2017Gorogoa is a fantastic puzzle game. Its mechanics are simple, but they get used in immensely creative ways and intertwine seamlessly with some gorgeous artwork and intriguing storytelling. If you’re looking for your next new favorite puzzle adventure on mobile, this is it.

Dec 14, 2017With its sense of artistic cohesion and its inventiveness, Gorogoa impressed me as few other puzzle games have, and I can't see any player who enjoys puzzle games even a bit not enjoying it. It might not be the longest game in App Store history, but it also doesn't overstay its welcome, which can be an issue with story-heavy puzzle games. Gorogoa really is a gem of a game that belongs on most people's devices and one that will cast its magic on you as soon as you start playing.
