With its constantly changing game mechanics, Gambonanza ensures that even chess veterans regularly encounter situations that feel fresh because they just cannot happen in a regular game of chess. If you have any love for the game of kings, this chess roguelike is definitely worth checking out.

Gambonanza may not be the legitimate crowd-pleasing smash hit that Balatro was. But it does for chess what the latter did for poker, and manages to reward smart play and skill just as much, if not more, than Balatro ever did. A must-play if you're a chess fan who likes roguelike deckbuilders, but if you're getting tired of the genre, then this may not do enough to lure you back in.

Your AI adversary occasionally makes confusingly foolish mistakes in early rounds, but that doesn’t diminish the significant challenge, in this highly polished and mentally taxing game that feels as though it was made for touchscreen.
