The touch control options presented here are some of the best I've seen for an iOS arcade conversion, and Galaga 30th Collection really is worth a spot on any arcade shooter fan's iOS device.

With a host of new features and visual improvements, Galaga 30th Collection is an essential package for arcade fans, while the inclusion of Galaxian for free means that there is no excuse not to try it.

Worth a download for the free Galaxian "G 30th" edition alone, though the value of buying all 3 extra games is debatable. The classic games do get a nice new twist on them for those otherwise familiar with the games.

Taken at face value, these 'remakes' aren't as disastrous as they sound, but not including the original versions alongside them guarantees a testy dismissiveness among the very people who would champion this collection the most.

The Galaga collection is a special kind of questionable. The question is if you're so into Galaga that you'd be willing to pay for and play up to four variations on the game that all look homogenous. Just don't forget that for $2.99 you can get the earlier Galaga Remix, which gives you two full games for the price of one, and is just as much a celebration of Galaga.

Galaga 30th Collection isn't the anniversary celebration the series deserves.
