The concept is interesting, but it doesn't make for a good mobile game. Would have been better off, if they made it turned based. Also, lots of loading, and it isn't responsive all the time. The graphics are great, considering what they are trying to accomplish.

Just go play the regular version of FF15, and pick up a game like Final Fantasy Tactics for mobile or a handheld gaming device.

The game tries to introduce new players by allowing all types of instant upgrades that allows them to compete with legacy players which have been playing the mobile or pocket edition of Final Fantasy XV for a couple years. The problem is this is nothing short of a scam and know several players which have spent well over $1,000 and $2,000 with these packages and get destroyed by legacy players even when they have lower level troops and research. So before you try or decide to play this game just know its rigged towards legacy or long term users and no matter how many packs or catchup packs purchased, even over the course of 3 to 6 months, your troops will be 50% to 100% weaker for attack and defense then legacy players despite the game refusing to acknowledge. So their T8 troops, as an example, will completely wipe out your T10 troops which are 50% more powerful. When you complain this is impossible the game developers or customer service will send you nothing more than a form email which usually makes little to no sense. Anyway best to save your money if a new player wanting to enter this game and find something else to play. Expand

Yes, that’s an awfully hefty price for a mobile game, one so large that it does make one wonder whether it’s worth it to take the plunge or simply buy the console version of Final Fantasy XV, which by now can be had for less than its original price. Still, if seeing the game on mobile is what prompted you to want to give it a try in the first place, it’s well worth trying out the initial, free chapter to see if you want to invest more money and time into it, as well as to marvel on how a full-fledged RPG can be translated to touchscreens without compromising all that much.

Some of the most fun I’ve ever had with a game based on a popular franchise tailor-made for smartphones.

Bugs aside, what Square Enix has here is the perfect mold for its mobile games. Whether original titles or abbreviated retellings like this, the future of Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest or the Mana series is bright for smartphones if it chooses to follow this formula. I love what Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition represents for the future of mobile gaming, I just don’t very much care for the actual game.
