    As a mobile game it's ok. As a free mobile game it's pretty good. But that's just comparing it to mobile games. Reading the paid and home reviews you'd think this was "the real deal" in terms of FF strategy titles for mobile devices. It isn't. It, like 99.9% of mobile games is as deep as a spit puddle designed for 10 minute play burst before coming a repetitive bore-fest.
    But as that    As a mobile game it's ok. As a free mobile game it's pretty good. But that's just comparing it to mobile games. Reading the paid and home reviews you'd think this was "the real deal" in terms of FF strategy titles for mobile devices. It isn't. It, like 99.9% of mobile games is as deep as a spit puddle designed for 10 minute play burst before coming a repetitive bore-fest.
    But as that applies to just about all mobile games - and at least this one is free, then I suppose if we are just marking against it's peers in the handheld market. It deserves an average score. If this was a console or PC game It's get 1, maybe 2 at a push.    … Expand

    Shameless money grab (42 $ for 11 draw with 65 % of getting 5*) with barebone gameplay. Just play a real Final Fantasy game.

    Gameplay is extremely repetitive. Be prepared to fight the same boss 10 times because they keep recycling the same content.

    Barebone game that preys on nostalgia and tries to charge you 4.21 $ per draw. Extremely repetitive gameplay, no multiplayer, fight the same boss over and over again. If this game wasn't call final fantasy nobody would be playing it. Stay away from it.

    Unfortunately, the game's continued development is funded    Final Fantasy Record Keeper (FFRK) is a fun and engaging mobile game that combines nostalgia for games of Final Fantasy past with a twist of current Final Fantasy titles. Updates are frequent and the game is fast and friendly for beginners and people less familiar with previous the previous titles that the series draws upon.

    Unfortunately, the game's continued development is funded through an IAP system of gambling for "relics" that your party of adventurers use in combat and this system of gambling or "gacha" is largely unregulated in places outside of Japan. Obtaining better relics is integral to progression in the game and DeNa's lack of transparency regarding the percentile chance of obtaining the relics that they feature weekly is a significant turn-off and has opened the door for DeNa to exploit its playerbase in order to obtain money quickly.

    A substantial number of Record Keeper's players began contributing to a collection of data on the gambling aspect of the game through a sub-reddit and generated a statistically significant sample-size that also helps mitigate reporting bias. DeNa used Record Keeper's most recent event to cut the percent chance of obtaining several of the most desirable relics that were featured nearly in half from the normal percent rates that player's had collected data for.

    Outcry from some of the playerbase resulted in numbers of players emailing DeNa about this shady business practice and asking if there was any possibility that what happened was unintended or simply a mistake in the surveying or analysis of the data. DeNa responded by telling players everything was fine and working how they intended.

    DeNa removed any consumer confidence I had for them after this blatant money-grab and I felt inclined to email their customer support as well with my grievances regarding their lack of transparency in their IAPs and the current bait and switch tactic that sets a precedent that they may even cut the success rates by 90% or more without disclosing anything to the playerbase. Although I was only a very small financial contributor to the game who spent no money on the current event, DeNa has shown the playerbase that they will fully exploit the gambling grey-area of their gacha system to the detriment of the players.

    In summary, download and enjoy FFRK as a completely non-IAP user because DeNa cannot be trusted to fund development of the game responsibly. When you gamble you are paying for a chance to win, but when the slot machine you are playing is adjusted to make winning increasingly more difficult without your knowledge, the safest bet is to not pay all.    … Expand

    It has the holy trinity of fun turn-based gameplay, approachable, intuitive design, and pure nostalgia. What's not to love? You can add characters from different games to your team which is great. There is a stamina gauge, which I assume stops you from continuing with the game, but it refills quickly and has never run out for me. Any fan of the traditional Final Fantasy titles will fall in love.

    Best app out there in my experience. Fun, challenging, and loads of events. You don't have to spend a penny as mythril is easily gotten from every battle. I have every character up to date and all memory crystals for each one. I always have fun and put about 20 minutes into this game each day.

    This is undoubtedly one of the best F2P games I've ever played. The only F2P part here is the equipment and all. But the nostalgia and characters are completely unlockable without any payment AT ALL. Now this is what I really really like about FFRK. You don't have to pay for the nostalgia. And I have to say that I'm already very hooked, and not even half of the content is even releasedThis is undoubtedly one of the best F2P games I've ever played. The only F2P part here is the equipment and all. But the nostalgia and characters are completely unlockable without any payment AT ALL. Now this is what I really really like about FFRK. You don't have to pay for the nostalgia. And I have to say that I'm already very hooked, and not even half of the content is even released yet! I'm still waiting for the release of my favorite characters, from Shadow, Galuf and Bartz, to Gilgamesh and Lightning. But the wait is truly worth it, as well as this F2P game. I really recommend this game to many others, because FFRK isn't all about the nostalgia and all that.     Not bad and not great. Super repetitive, desperately needs more content and things to do besides just dungeons over and over. Look at Gran Blue as an example of what a social rpg can be in terms of extra things to do. VERY heavy on the gacha and outrageous prices. The boss battles, nostalgia, music and ability animations are all really cool though.

    Game could be great. The progression system clearly encourages you to spend money and that would be ok if spending money actually got you anything most of the time. After playing for two weeks and saving up mithril and spending a little bit of money I had gotten only two 5 star relics and none of them were unique ones. Reaching level 30 and running daily dungeons enemies were stillGame could be great. The graphics of the enemies are nice so I don't see why they couldn't have done the characters in a style similar to the psp remake of Final Fantasy IV. While the equipment and orb drops are enough to keep you farming for a long time you also have to deal with the typical freeium stamina meter crap, game is likely one of the best in ios/android but that isn't saying much.… Expand

    I do not recommend picking this up since it's insanely addictive. Game servers (excluding Japan) are shutting down at the end of September 2022.

    Nostalgia, Old school turn based battle system (something that has been sorely missed from modern RPG's) and easy to play interface with lots of items and ways to level. This may be my favorite mobile game yet.

So, fair warning, you needn't spend any money to enjoy this game. Use the mythril you get on refreshing your stamina and grinding through instances.

    Another pro tip: if you're losing a battle, there's a little trick the community calls "S/L" (or "save/load"), where you force-close the app and re-load. This resets the battle starting from scratch, very useful if you just made a stupid mis-tap that could cost you the fight.

    Why give it such a high score though? Well, it delivers what it promises. Sure, at the end of the day, this is merely an ATB simulator with FF characters. You can spend money on it if you want, but it's hardly necessary for progression. You can make a dream-team of all white mages, all black mages, all beasts, all villains, all heroes, all from a certain series, anything you wanna do!

    Another reason I score this so highly is the sheer amount of content. I've been playing this game since release (global version) and I'm not even halfway through the main quests. The weekly events are enough to keep you busy, and since the early ones cost very little stamina and give you mythril in return (along with characters, growth eggs, memory crystals, etc.), you'll want to be spending a lot more time in the events.     It is a great game for Final Fantasy fans. You get to hear classic music and see characters as if they were 16 bit sprites. The problem comes with getting new weapons and limit breaks. You need to spend Mythril to get anything decent and even if you spend 50 at once to get 11 weapons and/or armor, there is no guarantee that you will get anything 5 star.     Because it's a F2P game, there are microtransactions. You get a currency known as Mythril, and you can use it to revive yourself in battle with a boost, recharge your stamina, and summon stronger equipment for your characters to equip. Luckily you can get Mythril from daily logins and daily challenges, so purchasing Mythril is optional and not recommended.

    Right in the feels Bullseye!!!! If you are a true final fantasy fan this is a game for you ! Like me i enjoy every second playing with all these characters! But if you have never played an ff game i am not sure that you will stick with the game! For me a hard core FF player this game is 10/10 and i will score it 10 but if you are not i can say its not a game for you ! You may enjoy a day or two !

    I would love this game so much more if I could be able to grind for Record Rubies, Mythril, 6* Motes, Job Class Motes, Soul Break Equipment, Memory Crystal Lode III, etc. Not to mention the missable Kingdom Hearts characters.

    I like to 100% my games, and this is not very possible here. Fun game. Still suffers from the same pay-to-win type aspect that so many mobile games fail to.     worth it and glad to play this game again. so much memories and nostalgia within this spin off game in the series.

    Aside from that energy bar, Record Keeper is a Final Fantasy fan's dream mobile free-to-play game. The combat is simple, but well balanced and engaging, and the presentation and aesthetics are so authentic to the veteran series that it's impossible not to play and get a nostalgic rush.
