It’s always a little daunting to try to keep a successful series fresh without breaking what already worked, yet Kabam managed to pull it off with Fast & Furious: Legacy. Fans of both the games and movies should be pretty happy, and there sure seem to be plenty of both out there.

Fast & Furious: Legacy offers more than the average mobile drag racer, thanks to some interesting game modes.

    Racing:

Only 3 maps and 3 modes: Street, drift and drag. Game gets repetitive fast.

    Car upgrades:

Limited upgrade capacity: you cannot completely upgrade a car. Could have been a good feature, BUT you cannot modify upgrades so there are no chance for experimentation of different tunes.

You have to win parts which can be difficult. Sometimes you can play for 100s of races and still do not get the part you want, which makes upgrading difficult.

    Customization:

Customization is very overpriced. Body kits cost 1.3k gold. If you want to buy gold 1.3k is worth around $10.

The style points give you very little reward. The style points required to get 1 gold per winning race is around 20k gold, which costs around $25 if you want to buy them.

    Buying and selling cars:

Buying cars is a lottery simulator, you spend 1k gold to buy a crate and hopefully win a car that you like. But most of the time you get a car that is worth way less than what you spent.

    Selling cars:

If you sell a car, the rewards you receive is also a lottery. You receive random rewards that may or may not be what you wanted.

    Multiplayer:

You race against ghost cars. There is a bug in street mode that your car can randomly stop dead if you activate nitrous when you're overlapping your opponent. This bug has not been fixed yet.

You are also often matched against players that have better cars than you do, resulting in frequent losses.

    Team system:
Virtually pointless. The only thing you can do with your team is chat with them. They can also speed up your 2 hr oil changes for 1 MINUTE per member. Seriously?

    Energy system:
Of course there is an energy system. This one takes the form of oil changes, which you must do for once per 5 races. This is even less than CSR Racing, wow.

This game is nothing more than a money grab as is everything I have seen by Kabam. It is a slot machine style game that has an absurdly lowThis game is nothing more than a money grab as is everything I have seen by Kabam. It is a slot machine style game that has an absurdly low chance of getting any car that you NEED to complete. You pay large sums of real money to buy crates that have all th cars in them. Vast majority are garbage and the chances of getting anything worthwhile is shockingly low.
Then once you fall for that money trap, they expect you to pay more real money to get car parts that you NEED to upgrade your car in order to compete. Great part of this scam is that it works the same way as the cars. You buy the parts box but it is a game of chance as to which parts you get.

Now this is where the scam gets really creative. There are numerous different ways to build a car when and if you hit the parts lottery that they make you play BUT when you choose the wrong path there is NO WAY to reset it so you can fix the mistake therefore making that car completely useless. So back to spending large sums of money to try and play the car lottery that they force you to play.

In all fairness they do make a fun game that is in concept very good. Almost a breath of fresh air until you realize the large sums of money that it requires to actually play. From my personal experience I can tell you that I have spent well over $300.00 on the game and the car and parts lottery was not kind at all, which is a very common theme with Kabam.

My $300.00 made it so i cannot even complete the story mode. Now I know you think that not being able to progress in a game is due to skill or strategy but with Kabam that's not the case. You see, they put restrictions on the level your car has to be in order to even get into the race. They call this PI. Once you win the very expensive car lottery AND win the very expensive parts lottery you have to build your car the proper way to get your PI up. Every upgrade raises PI but there is a limit to how high any given car can be raised. For me my best car I own after Spending $300.00 cannot be upgraded in any way to get the PI high enough to even get into the final race.

Now for the "ranked" races. They will tell you that you are playing against real players and in a way that is true. Catch to that is you are playing against ghost cars that ar.e recorded versions of other people's races. Now that would almost be ok BUT.... A lot of but's with Kabam, you are matched against cars that are in a complete other class. Not uncommon for you to race against cars that are at least a full class higher than yours. Thus, giving you zero chance at winning unless you hit the mega car lottery and win their highest class car and hit the mega parts lottery that will give you the parts needed to upgrade that mega lottery car and spend enough in game currency to actually install these mega parts lottery upgrade and you choose the correct upgrade path the very first try with zero mistakes otherwise making all your work and money obsolete. Also note that to build the "A Class" car correctly if everything worked out great for you will cost you MILLION'S to do yet you only win 3-4 thousand per WIN!

If all of this isn't enough to steer clear of this game, you can only race a car 5 times win or lose then you have to wait HOURS to play another 5 races as they "change the oil". Now you start out with only 2 mechanics to "change the oil" meaning that you can only do 2 cars at a time. 2 cars wait hours then either do 2 races or change the oil on two other cars. Now you can buy up to 2 more mechanics giving you the ability to okay 4 cars BUT.... That will cost you over $100.00 in real money. See a common theme here's?

In short, EVERYTHING in this game and every game that Kabam makes that I have seen is all about large sums of money. I am by no means upset that I spent enough money on an iPad game to buy a ps4 or Xbox. My problem is the result of spending that money. When you look at the top racers, know that my $300.00 hasn't even put me in the same stratosphere as them.

Just avoid Kabam until they realize that they need to respect their players, not exploit them and if you fell into this trap start reporting them to Apple iTunes. I have actually gotten them to refund me some of my money that I have spent on Kabam. Maybe if enough people start doing this they will start doing something about these "game" models that are all about your money and not about the gaming experience.
