If you have yet to play Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride, I’d urge you to check out the iOS version of the game. It’s not quite worth the jump if you already own it on DS, but it’s a cheaper alternative here than picking up a used physical copy of the game second-hand nowadays.

If you like RPGs, you should buy Dragon Quest 5. I consider it one of the peaks of the genre, its highest points yet to be surpassed in the more than 20 years since its release.

The Nintendo DS port of one of the most beloved classic Dragon Quest games has made the transition to mobile incredibly well. For the most part.

A bright history lesson. Before Chrono Trigger and Pokémon, this game was teaching us about capturing monsters and the passage of time. Fair price, engaging adventure.

Dragon Quest V is arguably one of the finest installments in the series so, yes, you should get it.

The first games of the middle Dragon Quests I was eager to play! This was the first ever JRPG to introduce the monster hunting mechanic before the likes of Pokémon, Shin Magami Tensei, and Digimon, and any other game you can think of. It introduced it in a subtle way forward the middle of the game. Each monster has its own stats and everything. They can equip weapons and armor and learn skills. I’ve just played it up until the demon world so I know I still have a ways to go but I had to comment on this masterpiece of an RPG which the creator Yuji Horii said it’s his favorite of the whole DQ franchise. You play as the hero traveling with his father, then later on play his children which you have after choosing your wife of course. There are 3 women to choose from. You have Bianca which is your childhood friend, a Beaty you will just meet with blue hair (I forgot her name) and then a new wife option added when the game was upgraded on the 3DS which of course got printed over and optimized for iOS. It’s definitely the best phone game to get because it takes no data and there are no micro transactions. Good ol’ RPG of the golden era gameplay. Priceless. I recommend this game to anyone. Now this came out at a different era so some of the later dungeons and areas may feel absolutely brutal but if you put in the time and grind it out when things get tough you’ll overcome anything. It plays like a good RPG should. Definitely the best out of IV V and VI to at least start at. Review for DQ VI to iOS coming soon. Thank you for reading it. Full Review »
