All said, Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse for mobile was a very pleasant surprise. It’s not perfect, but it comes close enough, and may even be a little better than its console brethren in some regards.

Castle of Illusion combines old school challenge with impeccable presentation to create a fitting tribute to one of the 16-bit era's finest platforming classics.

Mickey may have a few illusions in store, but he’s got the right kind of magic to get him by.

Castle of Illusion distictive worlds are bursting with energy and personality. Unfortunately, thanks to its slightly spongy controls and lacklustre bosses, this illusion isn't as convincing to the touch.

It's incredible how well this game was handled, as playing it on a Retina Display feels identical to any other platform.

Castle of Illusion has great graphics and an excellent soundtrack, but also a fairly standard gameplay and a just above average level design.

An excellent iOS port of an already interesting reinterpretation of the classic 2D SEGA Genesis - Mega Drive platformer.

While by no means perfect, Castle of Illusion is a good enough platformer that pays worthy homage to the Genesis classic. That said, its high cost makes it too expensive to be an impulse buy, and we can only suggest waiting for the inevitable price drop.

Castle of Illusion is a good platform game, but fails to deliver an organic experience. Some levels are gorgeous, but some other lacks in level design or inspiration, and it's definitely too short for a premium priced game.

Despite occasional frustrations, Castle of Illusion is a fun and visually impressive rework of a true classic. I just couldn’t shake the feeling that I’d played this experience in too many different guises over the years to fully enjoy it.

If you can wrestle through the controls though, Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse is host to imaginative levels, clever camera work and an abundance of Disney charm to keep you happily playing for hours.

You'll likely die several times on each level. It's not the longest game but I played it with my daughter and it was a lot of fun. I would compare the difficulty to a game like Sonic, but with better artwork. I can't think of any reason to rank it down I'm not grading it against something like Bioshock it's just a 10 for what it is. Full Review »

Its a fantastic remake of the classic Sega Genesis/Mega Drive title. The only problem is that despite all the thought and hard work put into it, the controls are a little clumsy. The game has a transparent controller layout overlapped on the display but it isn't accurate and doesn't always work well. If you are really itching for this classic title and you have the option, play it on a console instead as it works much better with a hand held controller. Full Review »
