Mar 18, 2012The iOS platform matures once more thanks to the Chaos Rings series as the third title in the series proves itself to be a true sequel complete with revisions and tweaks to the basic formula, while adding more depth the the gameplay and managing to pace itself with confidence; it's not a match for the greats of the genre, but it's without peer on this platform.

Apr 27, 2012All in all, Chaos Rings II is a great RPG for iOS that has restored some of my faith in the platform for carrying more serious games instead of casual diversions.
-
Mar 21, 2012What makes a great JRPG? A compelling story? Solid, turn-based fights? Chaos Rings II is got them all, and it's also packet with superb graphics and sounds.
-
Apr 10, 2012In many ways, Chaos Rings II is the quintessential JRPG. You will spend a lot of time grinding. You will be gently but firmly led along the story's path to its inevitable end. You will see all of the familiar JRPG tropes. However, that's not necessarily a bad thing, but your decision in regards to whether or not you actually want to purchase the game is going to be dependent on this. For all of its flaws, Chaos Rings II has done more than ample justice to the formula. It's refined, it's meaty, and it's definitely worth the high price of entry.
-
Apr 2, 2012It should also be noted that Chaos Rings II is an audiovisual treat. The in game soundtrack is paired perfectly with the most gorgeous graphical display I have yet to see on my iPhone 4.
-
Mar 27, 2012Chaos Rings II is an excelent J-RPG for iOS devices with nice mechanics and brilliant narrative; just the excesive price tag could be an impediment for many potential users.
-
Mar 23, 2012I would be remiss if I didn't take at least a moment to talk about the game's visuals, because they are stunning. The way Chaos Rings II depicts a world without time is breathtaking, with droplets from frozen waterfalls hanging suspended in space and time and cherry blossom leaves hanging in midair, their voyage to the ground interrupted. This is the sort of game that makes you wonder just how impressive games can look on an iPhone, and if we're just scratching the surface of what the device can truly do.
-
Mar 18, 2012A brilliant JRPG that builds on the successes of its predecessors. Chaos Rings II isn't quite perfect, but it more than justifies its premium price tag.
-
Mar 26, 2012A beautiful, full-featured RPG that highlights what Square Enix can do on iOS. Clunky storytelling and a high price prevent the game from reaching its full potential, but gorgeous environments and an expanded battle system more than make up for it.
-
Mar 23, 2012Chaos Rings II confirms once again the ability to dream in the Square Enix fans with their longevity to a title, featuring a deep storyline and above the level of its predecessors Final Fantasy.
-
Mar 22, 2012Chaos Rings II isn't exactly a major renovation of the original game, but it doesn't need to be. A must-own for JRPG fans.
-
Dec 16, 2025For me personally, the game just seems a bit too overpriced, especially if you already paid for the first CHAOS RINGS iOS game last year.
-
Mar 17, 2012While it does little to push the boundaries of what an RPG can be, Chaos Rings II is still perhaps one of the better, more solid examples of the genre.
-
games(TM)May 17, 2012Despite its shortcomings, remains deep and complex. [Issue#122, p.111]
