    Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter is a console-quality hunting game which lets players explore huge non-linear locations as they attempt to track down a variety of dinosaurs that are armed with some of the most advanced AI on the platform. As a result, these are no “pea-brained” dinosaurs – these are dangerous creatures that are able to see, hear and sense the hunter. If you’re not careful, it’s very easy for the hunter to become the hunted.

    With 15 different dinosaurs across 5 distinct environments including pine forests, muddy marshes and rolling hills, how you approach your target is important. Wind direction, scent and the use of a special dinosaur call are all key elements in tracking your prey.

    Game Features:
    • 3D dinosaurs, from the Herbivorous (plant eating) for novice hunters to the Carnivorous (meat-eating) for experts;
    • Choose from among six different weapon types – from a sniper rifle to an X-bow;
    • Utilize the map and radar feature to locate and track dinosaurs;
    • 2 exciting game modes:
    - Hunting: a non-linear hunting experience where players roam through vast landscapes, tracking and hunting a variety of dinosaurs;
    - Survival: a timed, frenzied affair where dinosaurs begin rushing the player in an attempt to eat him. The pace starts slowly and builds, and the person who can stay alive the longest is the winner;
    • Online leader boards and social networking integration;
    • Interactive Dino Trophy Room.

    For some, Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter may be a hard game to appreciate thanks to just how realistic the experience can feel, however this is without a doubt a must have for hunting enthusiasts and fans of open-ended titles.

    Methodical and hugely satisfying, Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter isn't your typical shooter and while it makes considerable demands of the player, the feeling of reward you get in return is immense. The only real complaint is a lack of variety.

    If you're looking for a deep, intelligent hunting sim, Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter is ideal. The added bonus of hunting dinosaurs rather than conventional animals just makes it all the more intriguing a proposition.

    You also have extremely limited ammo and no way to heal yourself, which means that unless you know what you're doing, you're more than likely to wind up being hunted yourself, uttering your last words to that cunning velociraptor: "Clever girl..."

    Carnivores is a great game for fans of the hunting genre, but it doesn't offer enough to keep other players coming back to it.

    In the end, this game isn't for the usual gamers. If you are a hunter though and have a lot of patience, then you will definitely find something good here.

    You can have a quick 'mobile-gaming-style' hunt by selecting your radar and seeing how many dinosaurs you can take down in a few minutes, or by playing the endurance gamemode 'survive'.

    Or, you can immerse yourself in the world of Carnivores: go into a hunt blind and track down your prey in a world filled with many different dinosaurs that each present a unique challenge; and sometimes a threat. Spend hours walking around the maps, tracking down the dinosaurs and hoping you don't get caught yourself.

    Far and away the best of the modern Carnivores ports. While the PSN version lacked updates and some of the old gameplay features, Tatem's iOSFar and away the best of the modern Carnivores ports. While the PSN version lacked updates and some of the old gameplay features, Tatem's iOS version cuts little and adds lots. The most notable inclusions are a camera for taking HD screenshots, a new "horde mode" style mini-game that's surprisingly fun, and a dinosaur roster that's been nearly doubled since Carnivores 2, but fans of the series will pick up on many small, positive tweaks made to the game's flow and UI. The game even continues to receive updates now, years after its initial release, giving it the most consumer value of all the current games. It's only real downfall is that its controls are not as intuitive and precise as its PC ancestors, but they're certainly better than their PSP/PS3 contemporary and new players will likely adapt to them just fine. It's no wonder there are so many dinosaur hunting games popping up on mobile devices now... imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and CDH Pro is well worth the praise.… Expand
