    There are more complex games out there, but there aren't many more exciting games on the iPhone and iPod than Canabalt. Its simplicity is an asset that takes advantage of the system like few other games other have.

    Canabalt is my most-played iPad game by far. Its simple, fun concept distills platforming down to its bare essence of running and jumping.

    A simple game. It's run-and-jump, over and over again; the only semblance of "depth" comes with the online leaderboards.

    The beautifully animated black-and-white game has recently been updated to universally function on both the iPad and the iPhone, with another selectable soundtrack from the always-excellent Danny Baranowsky added to the iPad package, making the game's HD debut that much sweeter.

    For three dollars, Canabalt is a steal. While its push-button gameplay may not please everyone, its fast pacing, astounding presentation and undeniable replay value will give you a proverbial run for your money.

    We wouldn't normally recommend a few dollars for a few minutes of content, but Canabalt is a great exception.

    The beauty of Canabalt lies in both the simplicity of it's interface and its polish. You only have to touch the screen to jump. Ready? Go! A monochrome city under attack by what appears to be aliens is the setting for this game as you make your way through your first window. Dramatic music by the illustrious Danny B looms overhead as you hurtle through empty space, as you land, roll and recover when landing on a structure. Eventually you will learn the audio cues for falling spacecraft, the finesse required to jump through a window, and that other peoples scores make it look like you suck at this game. Sure, you may feel cheated at times, as you hit a wall and tumble to your death. But like the good book says, "All is fair in love and parkour."
