Between its story, flavorful presentation, and adequate point-and-click gameplay, there is a lot to like with this episode of Broken Age.

The beautiful Tim Schafer adventure is now on mobile devices with a functional - but far from perfect - interface.

Broken Age is yet another piece of evidence that the vibrant screens and touch interfaces of the iPad were made to showcase the point-and-click genre. Tim Schafer’s return to the genre he once commanded is well worth playing, as long as you can cop the break between acts. [Episode 6, July 2014]

Broken Age is a finely crafted piece, which offers new age story telling with ornate construction combined with subtle puzzle elements making it a should buy that fits nicely on the iPad.

It doesn't matter if a painting is beautiful. If it's only half of the picture, it's impossible to predict the quality of the end product. The same also applies here.

The first half of Broken Age is charming, gorgeous, and well written. But some might find the obvious puzzles and softer tone aren't quite what they were hoping for.

Now, while the game is gorgeous and ends on a high note, Broken Age Part 1 on its own is hard to recommend. I'm not disregarding the entire game – with Part 2, it could wind up being something great. But just Part 1? I'd wait for the whole thing to release.
