BIT.TRIP BEAT feels like a divisive game – creative, right brain types will likely appreciate the game for its art and can look past the flaws. Logical, left brain types will struggle with the game's flaws to enjoy the core product. I find myself in the latter crowd, struggling to enjoy a game that is alternately brilliant and frustrating.

During hectic moments, the friction of the screen tends to work against you, while the tilt controls are simply too sensitive to be usable.

Bit.Trip Beat is a good game. But it could have been an excellent game. If the three stages were broken up into several smaller ones, Bit.Trip Beat would be nothing but a great challenge. Instead, it sometimes causes teeth-gnashing… and not the fun kind.

A colourful iteration on Pong, Bit.Trip Beat is to be enjoyed in spite of its structural shortcomings.

Fans of the WiiWare original that aren't already tired of BEAT will definitely find this App to be a boon, but the crazy speed and lengthy levels may prove tiresome to most casual gamers.
