    Despite the flaws, I'm seriously having a great time with Battlejack. I'm a big Blackjack and RPG fan, so this is a mashup that I fell in love with immediately. I'm enjoying the fun art style, and the game mechanics are easy enough for anyone to understand. The difficulty does pick up once you hit the third area, but that just adds to the challenge. I wish that the game menus weren't so cluttered, though, and I'm not the biggest fan about the timers, but I'm willing to put up with it for now.

    Battlejack is a well-built hybrid between blackjack and RPG, and even if it doesn't deepen any of its inspirations, can still be quite simple fun.

    With a steady stream of freebies via daily bonuses, and chests that can be unlocked for extra goodies, Battlejack does a good job of drip feeding content and therefore luring you in. It may never quite stick in your mind as a game to remember for years to come, but its charm and steady progress means you’ll likely return to it any time you want a win during your day. Sometimes, that’s just what you need.

    Battlejack is an app that has promise but has serious flaws that detract from making it an enjoyable game. The biggest issues surround theBattlejack is an app that has promise but has serious flaws that detract from making it an enjoyable game. The biggest issues surround the limited PVP process which as grossly misbalanced, and the over powered characters people can aquire. The two come together in the pvp arena which quite clearly demonstrates the games flaws, will frustrate most players, and turns the game into a useless blah of a mess. The PVP process gives you three and only three possible opponents to pick from which the game chooses for you. You have one free reset of that set then each additional reset (if it choose very powerful opponents) costs more and more money. 2000, 4000, 8000, 15000 .. it adds up fast. Next the PVP process allows you to take in four characters to battle the opponents four characters. You do not get any potions or add one like normal battles. But your opponent gets a shield over every character which gets progressively stronger the stronger they get in the game. Now during the battle your attacks are again controlled via random chance and cards .. and if you go over 21 .. you get no attack and no advance on your special powers charging up. The defender on the other hand automatically charges their powers every round without pause, and they get to automatically attack you at near full power (oh did I mention your attack strength varies on your random hand .. so a 17 has more power than a 14) like clockwork. Perhaps you can see the lack of balance. An added insult your entire party is treated in the battle like one target. So while your powers may only impact one target ... any powers that have target the entire group on mass. You power can reduce the shielding on one target. That same character defending reduces your entire parties defense. The net result is most players have taken to using the same set-up of character cards (the android assassin, the fire powered robot, the poisoned boulder gargoyle, and the reaper or shark character) in defense as it becomes nigh unbeatable. The assassin triggers and weakens your healing defense and attacks, the combo with the robot triggers to reverse your shielding so not it harms instead of protects you, and the other character deliver the coup de gra on you often one shotting your entire party into oblivion. And then the final insult is the chest drops award mostly Rune components .. but if you are attacking in the story line so many runes drop over time you'll find almost no use for the rewards.

    The developers know these flaws and have done nothing to fix them, and seem more bent on encouraging people to spend money creating runes (costly) to try and power up their characters to maybe beat the nigh unbeatable line-up. Hence your best option is to avoid this game and the frustration and find something more entertaining to play.    … Full Review »

During battle you play BlackJack. The hand you get determines the power of your attack and your defense. Getting 21 gives you a large multiplier allowing a stronger attack. Like an RPG you will use potions and buffs, collect chests and level up characters. It really is addictive.

    What surprised me is how liberal Nexon M Inc are with the freebees, unlike most free play games they actually give you a decent chance to play without paying hard cash. There's log in bonuses, daily free chests (that contain in game currency - Gems -, hero cards and potions), free heroes cards, key challenges and much more. So with a bit of skill and patience you can play for hours. The micro-transactions for once don't ruin the game. The price of Gems is laughable though the premium pack at 93.99 was hilarious. You could buy 2 of the latest ps4 AAA games for that price!

    But the silly pricing aside which again doesn't ruin the game, I really enjoy BattleJack and will continue to play until I'm either bored or the game requires real word cash to progress. I do wish there was just a full version for a tenner, it would make a really great little game and would be much better without the micro transactions.    … Full Review »
