Baldur's Gate 2: Enhanced Edition is a very good port of an incredibly good game.

Baldur's Gate 2: Enhanced Edition is still an excellent RPG to this day though, so regardless of what platform you play it on, it is an adventure you won't soon forget.

Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition on iPad is the same great game that we already know on PC. Unfortunately, the touch-based control system cannot deliver the same experience granted by the mouse-keyboard couple.

Baldur's Gate II is a great slice of RPG gaming history, though it’s geared towards serious fans of old-school role-playing — and the tricky touch interface, punishing difficulty, and unintuitive design elements tend to get in the way of fun at times.

What was old isn't new again. In fact, this iOS port may do more harm to the Baldur's Gate brand than good.

An incredibly rich and detailed experience, but the control requires far more finesse than a touchscreen offers, and the experience is often as frustrating as it is fun.

You’re enjoyment of Baldur’s Gate II for iPad is pretty much going to depend on how much you’re willing to forgive. Nostalgia can go a long way, but in this case it doesn’t go far enough.

(which includes the add on Throne of Bhaal) is a must buy for rpg-fans. Beamdog did an excellent job (again, see Baldurs Gate I E.E.) in bringing the sequel in the Baldurs Gate saga to the IPad. For those who do not want to install mods for better graphics or want to play BG on their PC's these apps are a great alternative and besides good value for money.

In Baldurs Gate II: EE v.1.0 I encountered less bugs than in the first version of BG I: EE, and the enhanced graphics are a lot better. But people familiar with Baldurs Gate know that this game is not played for its 'stunning' graphics, but for its game play and story line. Unlike many reviewers, I don't think that the fun is limited due to the change of keyboard based control to touch controls. Besides some slight nuisances for people with big hands it works great.

For those who are (un)familiar with the Baldurs Gate saga but like to play in depth rpg's: Buy it en enjoy it. Immerse yourself and hold on. The game gets better and better. Many 'professional' reviewers claim that it is (only) worth to buy the app out of nostalgic reasons. I disagree with that, the game has a very high replay value and the nostalgic factor only adds up for those who are already familiar with BG.

Before I played BGEE on the iPad I would not have dreamed this game would work on a touch platform but I was pleasantly surprised and now it is my preferred way to play the game. I do miss the mods but besides that I highly recommend this. Full Review »
