While it is a different kind of game (turn based rather than real time strategy) it has the same booty spirit as the original and it does not disappoint.
The game is easy to learn - my 6 year old son picked it up quickly - but takes time and thought to master. I really enjoy taking on higher ranked players on the leaderboard and trying to come up with the right combination of moves to sink their fleet and secure all the booty.
As with the original, simplicity is the key. The game strips away the tedious micro-management of large numbers of units typical with strategy games, and what you are left with is a small number of ships and curses (waves, mines, whirlpools, bombs and hurricanes) but every choice you make is important and you have to balance out the short term grab for gold with the long term dominance on the high seas.
It is a very polished and accessible game - looks beautiful and each turn can be played in a couple of minutes.
Look forward to seeing you on the high seas!… Expand
