This game only got a 7 from me because of all the wrestlers to choose from and the hell in the cell makes the smackdowns hell in a cell look like s**t. The Triple Threats (or handicap matches) are horrible i dont recall seein a triple threat where all the two opponets did was attack the first player. U have to be damn good to beat the royal rumble cause all the 3 other guys do is attack you. And the last time i watched wrestling im pretty sure they know more than only bout 10 moves all together. WMX8 has many flaws but has a lot of good points. Finally a game makes Hogans leg drop look real instead of hogan just falling down sideways with both legs out. The entrances pretty make the game they are done without a doubt better then any other game. If u love smackdown then u will like this, but the last straw for me was when i couldn't even make red and yellow Hogan instead of nWo hogan u cant even give him the same face or bandana. the create a wrestler is just f***ing horrible in this. its almost the same as legends of wrestling's create a wrestler. Besides the limited moves, double teaming opponents, the tables dissapearing when they are broke, the horrible CAW, and the Rock who seems to get a special for reversing just a little kick, and a few other flaws this is a huge disappointment coming from the people who made No Mercy for N64. I'll stick with No Mercy before buying this. I'm prayin the next game from these people is at least half as good as No Mercy. Expand

A very average game with TONS of flaws that could have easily been addressed. Still, a fun game and worth a rental if you've got a few friends who are willing to have some mindless fun. Similar to the Smackdown! series, but different enough that I can actually enjoy this game (I'm HATE those games).

I think that the game is very smooth, but there are some disappointing things about it. I hate the fact that you can't rejoin after being ousted in the royal rumble. Who want sto watch the computer players fight each other? not me. I also don't like the fact that there isn't any dialogue from the wrestlers. Besides that i love the rest of the game. I think the hell in the cell is cool and the ladder matches, and all that jazz. Me and my friends have a pretty good time playing it and that's all that f***ing matters. Expand

If you're looking to play, something more sim based, look elsewhere. With 6 front moves, and play like Smackdown this is No Mercy nightmare. so sad so sad.

WWE Wrestlemania 18 has good graphics and controls. But the Path of a Champion is short and there is no need to go through it again when you unlock all of the arenas and the superstars. The Royal Rumble in the exhibition mode is hard to beat.

A very poor wrestling game for the Nintendo Gamecube. At least the games that came after this were massive improvements.

The only good things I enjoyed were the decent gameplay, entrances and the persue the belt mode.

Only get this if you are a hardcore wrestling fan.

Ratings have cooled and Stone Cold had some run-ins with John Law. This is irrelevant, as wrestling games always sell. [Feb 2003, p.96]
  2. As good of a wrestling games as I have seen for any next generation console. In fact it is quite a bit better than most. However if Yuke's would implement their older grappling system, this game would have been unstoppable.

Almost a wrestling fan's dream come true. But there's one thing that's keeping it from achieving greatness: the incredibly dull Create-A-Superstar mode. [August 2002, p.137]
