Its the best golf game Ive ever played, and with all the extras, Im sure to be playing it for many months to come.
-
It requires a lot more skill and concentration than "Hot Shots" gameplay, but it features a lot more risk and reward, too.
-
Game InformerEnough with the damned analog swing already! [Jan 2003, p.102]
-
A highly playable, though somewhat clichéd, golf game.
-
Nintendo PowerThe game's six caddies offer humorous advice as you play. [Dec 2002, p.214]
-
Electronic Gaming MonthlyAlmost a tee-to-shining-tee rip-off of Sony's "Hot Shots Golf" series, complete with jabbering caddies and "wacky" unlockable golfers. [Feb 2003, p.144]
-
Factor in the number of performance-enhancing equipment and items to earn, and it comes close to the addictiveness of titles in the "Hot Shots Golf" series, which is clearly what the developers were shooting for all along.
-
The golf swing mechanic is unique and on some levels deeper than most competing games. But it's also unnecessarily difficult and un-arcade-like -- a strict contradiction to the rest of the game.
-
Looks great but needs a mulligan in terms of game play.
-
Very middle-of-the-road in most aspects of its execution, and none of it is as fun or as inspired as the Hot Shots Golf games that Swingerz was obviously modeled after.
-
Unlike those in the comparatively lively Tiger Woods titles, the Swingerz courses come off as disconcertingly quiet and bland, without so much as a visible audience.
