BruceC.Mar 6, 2002As a multiplayer game, it's good - but not as great as some folks say. 8/10 But as a single player game, it's really nothing special. 6/10 Average of 7/10.

MattR.Oct 15, 2002This game is just... boring. It's kinda fun with friends, but it gets old very, very fast. The whole thing feels put together by a kid who forgot to take his Ritalin, and the "secrets" are so lame they aren't worth unlocking. I really tried to like this one, but I much prefer Virtua Fighter 4.

ShawnT.Mar 8, 2003It was the best game ever...then the worst game ever so i gave it a 5.

DaveB.Nov 18, 2003This game is only for the really young gamecube players. This game sucks! But it's by Nintendo, so it's still 10 times better than 95% of the games out there for PS2 and X-Box. So I gave it a 5.

CommandoDudeJul 4, 2008Speaking from a game viewpoint, this definately impoved over the First super smash. More characters/maps, better graphics, and interesting quirks. Unfortunately, the complex controller of the Nintentdo Gamecube ruined this game for me, the reason why I rate this a 7. Anyone who doesn't mind the Gamecube controller will like this game, anyone who doesn't, well, don't bother.

EricS.Jul 27, 2006Pretty good. Very repetitive but still fun. Best part is owning all your friends at it (with all the creap moves).

MarkLaibFeb 26, 2009Melee at its fullest! Now I know this game has its flaws but when it comes to fighting you got to have this game.

Sep 28, 2019Its a fun game, buts nowhere near as good as Super Smash Bros. and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Biggest gripes is the character feel like bricks, they don't feel "floaty" enough.
-
Mar 1, 2019Not as good as 64 but it's still a great time to be had, especially with all the new characters.
-
Oct 17, 2021The game itself is good, but its mechanics make me feel compelled to play it competitively.
-
Jul 10, 2022I play a decent amount of comp smash but i really don't like melee not because of content rather there are so many things you have to remember like you have to do up up down left right L to scratch your balls
-
Aug 16, 2023It’s fun, really a multiplayer game though. Once you find a character that you nail a few moves with it can become a bit competitive. It would have been better if there was a story mode for single player.

An exotic cocktail of entertainment for Nintendo fans, who will slurp up every last drop, and if you want to talk about longevity, I've had this game on import for about six months and I still haven't finished it.

Seeing the ducks from "Duck Hunt" or the 2 dimensional Ice-climbers (also featured as playable characters) will have you praising Nintendo for their kindness in bringing back some long forgotten gaming moments.
