  1. For the first time in my life, I was completely engrossed in a Star Wars game.
  2. Though it doesn’t match the overall bliss which "Rogue Squadron 2" had with the graphics and all, it is still one enjoyable game that you won’t want to put down once you get thrown into the middle of the action, which only takes about five minutes.
  3. The action is more intense in this game.
  4. It sacrifices glamour and elaborate play mechanics to be what it is supposed to be: Fun.

If you are a big fan of vehicular combat games (like "Twisted Metal," for example) or just plain loved Star Wars: Episode II, then The Clone Wars may be right up your alley.

Pure action and tons of fun. [Dec 2002, p.212]

The amount of onscreen action and opponents can be daunting yet exhilarating at the same time.
  9. Both the solo and multiplayer options deliver the explosive goods, but for maximum entertainment value try betting with friends on the strategy-based Conquest mode. Loser has to sponge-bathe Jabba!
  10. 80
The flaws in the single player missions are very disappointing, as The Clone Wars could easily have been a near-perfect "Star Wars" title with more imaginative level design. As it stands, the multiplayer is so good that it makes up for most of the shortcomings elsewhere in the title.
  11. Graphics were great and were perhaps the best aspect of the title, all except for those arthritis-like frame-rates.
  12. 78
Magnificent controls, thrill-a-minute gameplay, and an incredible sense of pacing elevate the title above the average senseless shooter.
  13. 76
The action is intense, the control is fluid and tight, and the gameplay is diverse and well balanced...If only some of the more technical flaws and lack of polish had been smoothed out before the game shipped...
  14. Despite some strategic elements, it really is a pure action game at heart, filled with plenty of targets to shoot at, plenty of power-ups to collect, and a good variety of tough missions to accomplish.
  15. Delivers what you'd expect. You want lots of explosions, and lots of things to shoot at, and they're on the disk.
  16. Although TCW has its weaknesses, its biggest strength is that it simulates some extremely intense and action-packed Star Wars battles.

Considering it throws in everything but Aunt Beru's kitchen sink (including a fun multiplayer battle mode, gorgeous cut scenes, even a Wookie cameo), you can't help be feel plump and satisfied after digesting this Episode II offering. [15 Nov 2002, p.144]
  18. Brilliant in some places, just plain dull in most of the others. [NGC]
  19. Purely an unadulterated shooter that shouldn’t be thought of as anything more.
  20. It suffers from hideous framerate problems at times but the texture detail is high.

A pretty basic vehicular shooter...However, the sheer brilliance of the different multiplayer matches makes it worth the price of admission. [Dec 2002, p.242]
  22. A fun and frantic action game that lacks polish. If you’re a Star Wars fan and/or enjoy blowing stuff up, it’s well worth your attention.

With great control, good graphics, and a very intense level of action, sweat will be dripping from your brow in no time. [Dec 2002, p.84]
  24. Sometimes it’s the meandering framerate or lacklustre AI while at other times the relentless familiarity of it all will leave you indifferent to the ballistic assaults and on–screen fireworks.
  25. It’s just a shame that for all the initial graphical beauty, complexity and diversity of The Clone Wars, it really boils down to a simple, flawed, over-stretched game design.
  26. 60
One of the game's most interesting levels even has you riding a lizard mounted with big Wookie bowcasters. It looked cool on Tatooine and it looks cool here.
  27. Filled to the brim with equally good and frustrating bits, this War turns out just like any other.
  28. GameNow
    58
There isn't anything in Clone Wars that hasn't been more successfully executed in another game. [Jan 2003, p.61]
  29. Technically, the game is shoddy. While most of the vehicle models are good, the same cannot be said about the rest of the graphics. The environments are simple and uninteresting, draw distance on some levels is short and the texture quality is below average.

So I've beaten this game MULTIPLE times. Idk how many hours I threw into this as a kid but this game speaks to me even today as an adult and I'm gonna look at this objectively without nostalgia goggles. Star Wars the Clone Wars, is like the cover looks- a tank based 3rd person shooter. And if you like Star Wars or if you like tank based combat you should get this game and play it. The game really gets the on ground heavy artillery feel of the Clone Wars while also spicing each mission up with different objectives and different tanks and weaponry throughout the campaign. The story is meh, but the actually game itself is well developed. Destroying droids is fun! You pilot gunships, you steal separatist tanks and sneak into facilities, you fight huge bosses that intimidate me to this day. All while the backing epic soundtrack of clone wars motivates you through battle after battle. Escort missions, to search and destroy, to timed attrition. BUT, the MAIN EVENT in my opinion is the multiplayer. its 4 player excitement. Unlocking the maps and game modes in single player allows for many MANY hours of fun in the multiplayer. There is a wave based survival where up to four of you fend off increasing difficult and hilariously overpowered waves. There is dueling which is like deathmatch. Zone mode (king of the hill), and my favorite Conquest. Which you capture outposts around the map and they produce AI tanks to fight for you. So it could be a 2vs2 match where you and your teammate have to capture outposts to win a huge battle. Is this game for everyone? Ya know... I feel like the survival wave mode ANYONE can jump in an have a good time. But true star wars fans or Action/Shooter fans will find plenty to enjoy with the game. If you don't have people to play with the single player can still add challenge on hard mode and the survival wave mode is fun too even if by yourself. Its worth a play at the very least.

Few games come pretty close to perfection. This game isn't anything perfect. And for some of you out there it may be pretty bad. The graphics are poor, but where the graphics fail, the gameplay suceeds. This game may not be for everyone. It is fun and enjoyable. The sound and muscial score are straight from Clone Wars. If your a Clone Wars fan then you need to get this game. The single player mode is ok and the multiplayer is exciting. The gameplay wears off after a while. I would purchase this title unless you find it at a discounted rate. Full Review »
