Jul 11, 2012One of the best Mario games of all time. The story is fun and surprisingly interesting and I found myself addicted to the game. A very fun adventure and a great game over all.
-
Jan 15, 2013This game is absolutely phenomenal in all aspect throughout game play, and somehow is able to make turning into a pig one of the scariest/creepiest things ever. RPG at its finest, with almost no flaws whatsoever, except trying the game a second time is slightly easier than the first. Overall, 9.8/10, a commendable effort in the making
-
Jan 19, 2013A truly wonderful game for the Gamecube, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door not only offers a great experience through easy to learn but difficult to master gameplay and quirky but lovable characters, but may even be considered one of the greatest RPG's of all time.

May 27, 2012Amazing game. One of nintendos best.
-
May 30, 2012The BEST nintendo RPG on the market, rivalled only by its predecessor on the n64. You'd have to be seriously cynical not to enjoy this game. Where the game design choices are not always the best and the dialogue could probably be toned down, the game puts together everything imaginable for a thoroughly satisfying experience.

TheoG.Nov 12, 2004One of the best games I've ever played. Gets better and better the further you go, incredibly stylish, different levels and smart dialogue - tons of content and many kinds of gameplay. Beating a chapter is awesome, esp. the Bowser levels.
-
-
ZachL.Nov 15, 2004This game is the bomb. I am having a little trouble but it is very challenging and I agree that it is the best rpg ever.

ArjunH.Oct 16, 2004It's challenging and fun.

-
MicallM.Feb 16, 2005This game is AWESOME!!! I mean it allows you to play as mario and have other party members to help you out. You also see other realy old folks that you saw in the ariginal game, and goombas and coopas you can talk to (one coopa is your party member). over all I'd rate it a 10.

ChrisJun 23, 2008This is probably my favorite game of all time. It is interesting, has excellent gameplay, and some very funny parts are in the story, which is great by the way. I loved everything about the battle system, and it never got boring. All of your partners in the game were interesting too, and not just some random people that just join with you. Pick up this game and see how great it is.

-
Oct 20, 2011Its audio, visuals, and gameplay aren't a big step from its N64 predecessor, however, that doesn't disqualify The Thousand-Year Door as fun. In fact, it's one of the most unique RPG titles to hit the NGC.

Mar 12, 2016This was one of the best games I have ever played. What really brought this game to life was the incredibly story and breadth of unique characters that made each section feel unique and powerful.

-
Mar 16, 2016Literally the best thing since sliced bread. The story gives me all the things I love about grand RPG adventures but tastefully simplifies it just right. Probably my favorite adventure RPG of all time.

Jul 16, 2016THIS GAME IS FREAKING AMAZING, Nintendo, I don't know why you don't make games like these anymore, Mario and Luigi is no excuse for not making masterpieces, this is what a Paper Mario game should be like
-
Jun 8, 2019An Absolute Masterpiece
The Thousand Year Door not only improves over it’s terrific predecessor, It OUTDOES IT in almost every way. -
Sep 19, 2020Honestly the best Mario RPG of all time! Nothing has topped it! What a fantastic game!
-
Nov 20, 2022This is the ultimate encapsulation of what turn based gameplay can be. There is no part of this game that doesn't feel perfect. The charm and cohesion that this game exudes is stunning and will be remembered as such.
-
Nov 17, 2022The most boundary pushing Mario game to date. Give it a shot, the simple Mario franchise name as a whole might already put some people off. Fret not though, there's a noose in the starting towns square. This game isn't afraid to change pace from Mario's usual roots.
-
JohnE.Jan 27, 2008The combination of an outstanding level design, (the train and the arena were awesome) great dialogue, a great atmosphere, and the innovative battle system produce a game that's definetely worth playing. If you own a Gamecube or a Wii, you owe it to yourself to pick this up and see what a casual, yet surprisingly deep game this can be.

JustinI.Dec 29, 2004I was a huge fan of paper mario, but this game WAY outshines it.
-
-
Jul 3, 2011Great transition from the N64, Thousand Year Door continues to bring out the RPG, paper madness that is Paper Mario. With well done visuals and improved combat system, this is a great RPG game for the GC.

Dec 1, 2013One of my favorite games of all time I loved all the story's included with it and it is one of the best games on the GameCube if you are going to start with the paper Mario series this game is a must play.
-
Apr 15, 2018This game has everything I've ever wanted, and Nintendo nailed all of it. It has beautifully designed worlds, tons of new unique characters, a fun and exciting (and hilarious) story and tons of collectables and upgrades throughout. Honestly every part of this game is just a joy to play.

Nov 19, 2014The game is so awesome! There is no way I can put any GameCube or Wii or Steam game bellow this. My favourite game ever, and the only problem is the backtracking in some sidequests
-
Sep 9, 2014In my opinion this is the greatest video game ever made. I got an account on this website just because I wanted to write a review for this game. I have spent many hours of my life enjoying this game and have beat it about 15 times.
-
May 7, 2015This game is really amazing! The turn battles, plot, story, badges, items, partners, sidequests, placesm, enemies and boss, all of this in this game is awesome! It's a true a evolution of the first Paper Mario for Nintendo 64, too bad that its sequels for Wii and 3DS (i prefer calling then as spin-offs of the Paper Mario series) doesn't reached the level of quality that this title have...
-
May 13, 2015This game is absolutely amazing. The gameplay is fun, the story is interesting, it is humourous. The only issue that I have with this game is the sheer amount of backtracking there is to do. Running from one end to another of the same area multiple times gets tedious. Still, it is definitely one of the best titles on the Game Cube.

Dec 28, 2015This Paper Mario game has proven itself to whether be a great sequel to the original Paper Mario. It's adventurous and it's a fun blast until the game's over.
-
May 15, 2016This is very good JRPG . Good graphics for RPG 2004 and in this game very interesting bosses , complicated , but good storyline . This game is the best JRPG i've seen and the best Paper Mario Game not no mention Paper Mario Sticker Star... Joke... Actually Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door the best Paper Mario Game . 8/10 .

Apr 17, 2016Fascinating game. The character development was spot on. The gameplay was great. The battles are the pinnacle of the entire paper mario series. And the music was some of the best compositions I've heard throughout the series.
However, I could have given the game a full 10 if I could use the toilet in the X-naut fortress. -
Jul 3, 2016Out of the paper mario series this is my favorite. Why? Better graphics, better story, Better fighting mechanics, and great controls. I do recommend it but the story is a bit off.
-
Jul 8, 2016Good game, love it almost as much as the first one, but I did not really get in to it. Well, the series is rotting, but at least we can replay games like this one

Jul 17, 2016Played this game through several times as a kid, the storyline, characters, music and just how fun the game was easily made it my all-time favorite game.
-
Aug 2, 2016One of the best games I have ever played. I cant complain about anything. One of few games I have been truly blown away by. I have played it about 5 times and i plan on playing it over and over for many years to come. Really impressed.
-
Apr 20, 2017This game is everything the amazing first game did- but better. The characters, story, music, and gameplay are all fantastic. What a great game! Easily one of Nintendo's best.

Nov 7, 2017Amazing mix of rpg and adventure game. Great characters, funny plot and diffrent ideas for action. Best Mario RPG ever created, way better than this Mario and Luigi games and Paper Marios that we are getting these days.
-
Aug 27, 2018Not the best RPG of all time, but probably the best one on the GameCube and defiantly the best Mario RPG. Great battle system, compelling story, and interesting dialogue make this a "must have" for GameCube owners.

Jul 23, 2020Perfect! And forever a master piece. With amazing characters, fun gameplay, and very creative ideas. Truly a cult classic.
-
Dec 2, 2019Honestly, this may seem over the top, but this is my favorite video game of all time. EVER. It has an emotional ending that almost made me cry (like, LITERALLY), the most likeable characters I've seen in a game, extremely catchy soundtrack, and the greatest story i've ever seen in a video game. I know this review seems too positive and too over the top, but that's just what I think of this game.
-
Jun 18, 2020I LOVE THIS GAME!
Not only is it the best RPG I've ever played. Not only is it the best Mario game I've ever played. But it is the best video game I have EVER played.
Sheer perfection and the game the series needs to be remastered on switch -
Jun 21, 2020To this day, this game is still an all-time classic with memorable story, captivating characters and fun gameplay. The best Mario RPG hands down

Sep 15, 2020Perfected the original Paper Mario formula and took it one step ahead. The turn based combat, special attacks, the badge system, the unique allies (each with its own story behind) and the marvelous music and world building make this game one of my favorite RPGs of all time. Definitely recommend you play it, specially if you only played the last entries in the series.
-
Oct 25, 2020This Game is an absolute must played for everyone. No more words needed. Highlight of the Paper Mario Games.
-
Aug 12, 2021This is my probably my favorite game ever. As someone who was never into turn-based RPGs, the "action command" battle system is very engaging The only drawback for me is some required backtracking. would love to see a true sequel someday.
-
Dec 9, 2020A natural evolution of the first game.
Simplistic but brilliant, with very humourous moments. -

And it'll soak up far more of YOU than "Mario & Luigi" or the other Mario RPGs ever did, too. It's easy to believe you could spend as long with this as you could a decent-length Final Fantasy title.
