Edge MagazinePac-Man Vs could hardly have barer bones. No options, no game modes and no high-score tables are included here, and as a consequence there's nothing here to dilute the strength of the original idea or the subtle excellence of its execution. [Feb 2004, p.103]
-
Every round is quick and frantic and offers lots of opportunities for sudden turn-arounds. The more humans you can get hooked up to it at once, the better it is.
-
Long-term appeal is dependent on having a suitably committed group of friends to play with. You'll need at least three players for a satisfying game, and four is much better.
-
It's a stunning little game to play for a while after the pub or while waiting for a taxi to turn up, and a complete contrast to the involved multiplayer experience you'd get with FF:CC. If a copy lands on your lap, you'll probably love it - you just wouldn't pay thirty quid for it.
-
Cheat Code CentralThe 3D graphics on the Cube are great but the limited vision is a bit annoying. Graphically and sound-wise, Pac-Man Vs is no Halo but it captures the original game perfectly.
-
There isn't enough variety to keep players enthralled - it's essentially the same game over and over. But what is there works beautifully and is a great example of a game thats accessible to anybody without sacrificing fun for all.
-
Game InformerSimply put, it's just not that fun. [Jan 2004, p.141]
